<DIV>I started looking at the dmg i took, and saw some creatures (undead) hit me with disease, and some with mental--</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>but what has fire melee? i //think// scorps, although i am not sure.</DIV> <DIV>reason being, is our high fire mitigation, and i would like to take advantage of it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Melee damage seems to be trying to match mob type/class now on alot of things. Castery type gnoll was hitting me for magic damage while spectres were hitting for disease. Its a clever idea but I get absolutley rocked if I pull oor of group resist buffs heh.</DIV>
I haven't seen any myself. I'd actually be surprised if there are any. The extensive use of non-trauma damage in DoF seems to be intended to make different tank classes more useful than others for different fights, since each fighter gets a large ammount of resist a versus a specific damage type as part of their defensive stance. This revamp/expansion has been heavily focused on making sure Guardians are *never* the only choice for a job, if even the best one, so putting in mobs that hit for fire-based damage would probably have been seen by the devs as counter-productive. We'll probably benefit a little in fights against mobs with heat-based AE's, which are pretty common, but I seriously doubt there are many, if any, heat-based AA mobs in the game. <div></div>
<DIV>There is a named lvl 52 or so in one of the lizard camps by twin tears. His name was cleaver something, I, 54SK, fought him twice with my group of 3. Wiped both times. When I scrolled up, I noticed he was hitting for heat dmg around 700-1000 a slice. It was too bad our resident Guardian wasn't on at the time. I'm sure there are more like him too. I've noticed a lot of the mobs do base elemental dmg now, hitting for heat/disease rather than slash/crush/pierce.</DIV>

I'd noticed this too with the spectres at least. What i was wondering, if ALL the damage from the mob - ie CA's, spells and auto attack - is elemental based and not trauma based, does our armour actually count for anything at all here? Apart from the stats and small resists on each piece, it seems to me that we may as well fight these things naked? This is obviously not a guardian only thing, but another problem for all mitigation tanks. I quite like the idea, in theory, but to put it into normal heroic gameplay seems a bit over the top. Groups tend to have a tank and stick to it. Only in raid situations will we choose specific class, knowing in advance what type of damage is coming, so I can't see this making much difference to tank choices. It's not a huge problem by any means, but it is a new problem. <div></div>
