<DIV> <P><SPAN>I must be doing something wrong....</SPAN></P> <P><SPAN>I am a lvl 52 guardian with ok gear and spells and yet I feel that I am left far behind by almost every other class. I know that I am not the preferred tank in groups anymore from being LFG and I know I don’t tank nearly as well as I did before the revamp. While the other fighter classes have gotten a slight decrease in damage (in some cases, berserker make more damage with large encounters etc) I have gotten nothing in return! My buffs have been nerfed and my damage have been increased slightly, though not nearly to the level of berserkers or monks/bruisers. What is the point SOE!!! 80% of the berserkers and brawlers I know don't even want to tank! Why have you made them better tanks then the guardian? Equally good would be all good but the sacrifice we guardians have made in inflicting damage should reflect in our tanking skill which it does not anymore!<FONT color=#000000></FONT></SPAN></P></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>     I don't like that either only reason I got a group is cause I have friends on teamspeak.  Monks and Bruisers tank so much better then Guards and Berserkers(our regen is broken btw).   I would just solo if I was you till they fix both of these sub classes, because I know you don't want to reroll a Brawler or Crusader.  Berserkers offensive group buffs do not make us tank better, it just makes the mob die faster that is not better.  I wish I had rolled a Brawler but now being level 52 it doesn't seem to be worth the time to invest.</DIV>

Think the best thing to do is play another class, I dont thinmk SOE wants Guardians to be uber anymore. Where they came up with the concept of making all fighters = is beyond me, no way in hell should a monk in pajamas be able to tank like a Guardian in plate armour. Soe may decide to make mages the best tanking class next month......as is is now get used to it, Guardians suck now.

<DIV>I too have been pondering my role as a guardian these days.  I'm only lvl 28 right now, but it seems like I'm struggling to figure out what I'm supposed to do in the group dynamic.  But I think I may have figured it out... and unfortunately its not quite the answer I'm looking for.</DIV> <DIV>And forgive me if you've all figured this out already.  I'm just trying to pitch in on the conversation.</DIV> <DIV>So here it goes:</DIV> <DIV>Guardians are definitely a tanking class.  But unlike the old EQ, Guardians (Warriors) are no longer the main DPS dealer.  Our role is to use our Sentinel, Allay, Intervene type spells to make sure group healers do not die.  Secondly, although we do not deal the most damage, it is our responsibility to keep aggro on us as much as possible, so other classes, like the monks, zerkers, nukers, and enchanters, can blow the mob right out of the water.</DIV> <DIV>So, before battle, I immediately throw a sentinel or an allay, or intervene, on the Main healer, and usually one on the secondary healer( usually a fury or something like that).  During battle, rather than spending my power on my "bury" and "maims", I've been using it to constantly taunt and keep aggro on me as much as possible.</DIV> <DIV>It seems to be working out.  The only problem I've encountered is, being the MT, and trying to help others not die at the same time, causes some problem with other players assist.  So I'm still trying to smooth that part out.</DIV> <DIV><BR>So, any thoughts, suggestions?  Am I wrong or right?  I'm very curious to know... because I think my flowering theory could be right.   Please let me know!  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<P>What's my role now?</P> <P>I can still tank for groups OK, as long as the DPS classes exercise restraint and don't go all-out.</P> <P>How can I best contribute to a group/raid?</P> <P>I put Vigilance on the Crusader/Brawler, Assauge on the resident agro-ho, put up offensive stance to throw in my meaningless "dps", occasionally throw up a Sentry and/or Commanding Presence on a tough pull, occasionally "Rescue" a softie, etc. etc.</P> <P>All that of course assumes the group is even interested in having 2 tanks in the group.  </P> <P>I will say this ... having me in the group turns the Crusader/Brawler into one helluva tank.</P>

<DIV>Oh, and by the way, Adding a 2nd healer, Conjurer or Bard does more for the group's tankability than I can do as a guardian.  Which would you pick to round out the group?</DIV>

Guards are useless in groups now. I am playing my level 13 rogue alt and its fun, unlike my guard. I suggest finding another class. I fear we aren't going to get any changes made because no developer is even commenting on our issues. My guard is so unfun now and none of the developers seem to care. I don't understnad why they developers think players would want to play buff-bots. <div></div>
