When I hire someone to install a PBX I don’t hire a network tech, I hire a PBX tech. The same goes for a network I don’t hire the PBX tech, I hire the network tech. You have a title ( class ) Network tech, yes you may be able to work on a PBX system but you can’t touch the productivity the PBX tech can doing PBX work and your productivity doing network work will far exceeds the PBX tech doing network work.

What I am getting at is why do we all have to be the same? I want a job that I do better then any one else and I want you to have a job you do better then any one else. We can’t all to the same job, that in it self is unbalanced. To have a true balance not all thing can be equal. To have a balanced group you need 6 people that excel in their job, to have a balanced raid you need 4 groups of people that excel in their job. Not 6 equal people doing the same job or 4 groups of equal people.

Yes I chose a guard to tank because that’s what I like to do. It seemed to me that the guard class was the best class suited for this job from reading the class description. I really don’t care what class is the best at tanking, supporting, healing, buffing or ect.. Just give us a job that we do better then any one else. Sure others ‘SHOULD’ be able to do others job to some degree but they shouldn’t be near as productive at it. SO give us a job to do and let us do it. If guards are not meant to be the best at tanking fine with me, I can re-roll, sure I won’t like it but I will because that’s what I like to do.

Agreed.

We're not asking for much. Just an identity other than the subclass no one wants to group with.

Message Edited by Moontayle on 09-22-2005 07:47 PM

hehe in regards to this thread then ok lets say Brawler are the pbx tech and gaurds are the network tec. In this case there shoudl be times when a brawlers is needed to tank better then a guard and a guard needed to tank beter then a brawler. Currently that is not the case all these techs perfrom relatively equally. If you say you want the network tech to be bettter at networks. My question is when will the pbx tech be better then the network tech. What you are proposing is what i proposed in beta Situational tanking. I said there should be raids and mobs where 1 class is better then the other and against a different mob another class will be better.

where bralwers tank multiple mobs better then a warrior

a warrior will tank sinlge target trauma mobs better

and a crusader will tank casters better

that can also be balanced yet equal

I stopped mentioning this because this is obviously not the route the devs have chosen.

Yes unfortunately the problem is , the game is flawed. There was no demand for the other tech's , just the PBX tech(Guard). So rather than creating networks etc etc , so you would call a network tech(bruiser) , they just nerfed the PBX tech to make him the same as a network tech. So now if there is a PBX error , you can call the PBX tech or the Network Tech. And you still never get a network Error.

haha where does pvp even effect pve in this game. That is just beyond offthe topic. I think you just didn't understand the post. Although it was an odd and confusing post it is rather funny.

The problem really lies in the fact that there are so few "jobs" to do, we have more classes then jobs. Like it or not, the game was designed around the archetypes and everything else is really just meant to be different ways of achieving the same goals.

Comparing a network technician to a PBX guy is like saying a scout can tank, if they have to... And quite honestly, I want equivilancy.. not equal.. I want things to be where overall everyone can do the same job, but some jobs are better suited for a subclass over another... but it is hard to state which one should shine where.. do we draw the line at raids and say "subclass X is best" or do we draw the line at types of encounters where "subclass Y can do mages best, but subclass G can do fighter mobs best"... where do you draw the line? Personally, I think the line should be drawn down the old healer hierarchy that was implemented.. warriors shine when with clerics, crusaders shine with druids and brawlers with shamans... if you dont have the right healer to work efficiently it gets harder.. but with the right combo you should be able to handle any content.. That would let us focus on doing our jobs well without worrying who is the "best" tank uber alles, but instead upon being the "best tank that we can be based on our own skills and gear"
