View Full Version : Problem I have seen several times now with agro...

<DIV>I play a 48 Guardian. My main partner is afk for several months due to katrina so I have been spending a lot of time helping lower level guildies with AQ's, HQ's, and whatever they needed. The agro problem I have seen several times now is ( seen with chanter and mystic while mentored to 22) a group member was halfway across the zone when I pulled a mob with an arrow, instead of running towards me it made a beeline away from me with the far away toon as target. Trouble I am having at all levels is seeing group mobs I am not actively targeting attacking the healers after one heal even after I have used AE taunt, AE hate attack, AR melee attack and whatever htl spell i have for that level. There is nothing left to use on the unengaged mobs for agro.   I am forced to switch targets waste lots of power on taunts,rescue,attacks to peel each mob one at a time off the healer. I know how to tank and had absolutely no trouble with agro before getting screwed is this last update. But if a mob can target a group member half a zone away over the person actually attacking it, something is bad messed up.</DIV>

Situation 1: Based on the buffs they may have on you, you basically performed what's called a "shadow pull" on your friend. In this situation the buffs that this person had on you caused them to rise above you on the hate list, and it chose them over you. If this is happening in a group, you may need to pull with taunt instead. Situation 2: After your pull, this person cast a group buff in range to you, and the mob felt threatened <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Those are the only 2 causes that I can think of. Hope that helps a little. <div></div>

If a mystic has a ward on you, it's big agro on a pull, even before you get hit.  When grouped with a mystic, always pull with taunt.

Hope that helps a little. <div></div><hr></blockquote> It also seems like some maintained buffs can actively generate agro now as well.  I was in a trio with a ranger and a necro, and a couple times when the ranger was AFK and not contributing damagewise sometimes the mobs would run at him.. as far as we could tell the only thing that might cause it would be the fact he had pathfinding up.  -not- casting it in combat mind you since he was afk.. plus he knows about the agro that casting it while fighting can cause... I think they changed the rules on us on this one. </span><div></div>
