<DIV>Group makeup:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>30 mystic, 29 guardian, 31 guardian, 28 swashy ( most liekly all have higher level alts as everyone seemed to be in nice gear)...fighting  lvl 30 golems in Ruins of Varsoon</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The 31 guardian and myself 29 guardian could not keep aggro off the mystic or the swashy without trading off using  Rescue whos timer is reduced to ten minutes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We both had the given master 2 (single and AOE taunts )....which we both deemed useless for all practical purposes..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When the 31 guardian was unable to keep agro or redeem it..i gave it a try....I spammed both aoe and single taunts..along with both taunting attack styles.....and had a hard time myself....we both had to resort to using rescue..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I hope this isnt the way combat will be from now on....Aggro control was the most enjoyable part of my guardian....perhaps theres something I'm missing....</DIV>

Was happening to me in beta on my 57 guardian.  I couldn't keep agro if my life depended on it.  Being that taunts are resisted and dps really isn't all that good, it is a hard time to keep agro imo.

<DIV>Before the revamp, aggro control was pretty much in the MT's hands - it was his ball to drop, and as long as he kept his taunting fairly active, he did allright. Now, aggro control now seems to be in the context of the whole group having to manage it. Your wizard has  to be careful of overnuking. If your healer has too many buffs on you, a simple heal is enough to send your mob charging his way. If that scout drops that big backstab in too early, it could be his last. Everyone is required to think now, as opposed to turning on autoattack and spamming keys.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally? I think it's freaking awesome. For players willing to adapt, and put some thought into what they're doing, they're going to find that combat is a lot more tactical and skill based than it used to be. For those who are solely concerned about being able to solo that orange ^^ mob, and immediately cry "NERFOMGWTFBBQ!" when they can no longer do so - well, they're going to be disappointed, and their plaintive cries have already made their way here.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Combat was <EM>broken.</EM> If I can turn autoattack on, autofollow a group member, go AFK for 10 minutes, and still contribute meaningfully to my group, then there's something VERY wrong with that. Now, to contribute, I have to <STRONG>think</STRONG>. Never, in my wildest dreams, would I have thought this possible in EQ2, and it's wonderful.</DIV>

<DIV>Here's my take on it:</DIV> <DIV>The golems in Ruins of Varsoon have an aggro wipe.  Several different types of mobs in several different zones I believe are bugged on their aggro.  For instance, if you are fighting a group of golems (more than one) and you kill the first, the remaining golems will have their aggro wiped immediately on the first's death and aggro will spread like a virus to other members of your group.  Other zones I've noticed this happening in is Nek Castle: The Return, and several others but my mind is coming up blank right now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for post-combat changes in aggro, I can keep aggro fairly well if I'm spamming my taunts non stop throughout the fight.  Some things to remember is that mobs can now resist taunts.  However, if they do resist, your recast timer is shortened, so while you click taunt, check the reuse timer on it before moving on to other CAs and letting your main taunt sit there waiting to be used.  I'm level 50, so I don't know if level has anything to do with your problem, though it probably does.  A berzerker in my guild was tanking for one group and was telling me he has a hell of a time keeping aggro.  The dps in the group had to pace themselves so as to not kill themselves.  On the other hand, on a single mob encounter, I can hold aggro with dps going all out if I use everything at my disposal.  If it's a group of mobs, a warlock will pull aggro everytime if they chain cast.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope this helps.</DIV>
