<DIV>From the release notes so far on test, it seems that:</DIV> <DIV>INT boosts caster spell damage</DIV> <DIV>STR boosts melee damage</DIV> <DIV>Player level no longer affects spells/combat arts</DIV> <DIV>Spell and Combat Art tier (apprentice, adept, master) affects everything more</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But two questions on that:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. Does having higher STR only affect auto-attack damage, or does it also boost things like Ferocious Charge and Vindication?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. What about buffs?  Does anything but spell tier cause them to be better or worse?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>SOE posted somewere that combat arts are depending on str, spells are depending on int.</P> <P> </P>

Str will affect base weapon dmg, combat arts and dmg rating .... only problem is STR is broken atm on beta and auto attack currently has too high a resist rate <div></div>

<DIV>Thanks for the info.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So it seems STR affects both auto-attack and combat art damage (or at least is intended to).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anybody know for sure if it does anything to buffs, taunts, and other arts that don't do damage?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

So any DPS parses for melee damage are tainted, to say the least.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The melee damage of both players and NPCs should be much more meaningful when the bug fix goes in.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the second part of your question, strength affects only damage--buffs, taunts, and other non-damage spells don't care what your STR is.</DIV>

<P>This also bring up a question for crusader.</P> <P>I wonder how crusader like SK's art will be affected by INT or STR?</P> <P> </P> <P>Most of cursader arts at high lv is rather arts than spells. Although, new offensive stance for SK only boost INT.</P>

Some classes have spells and combat arts. Crusaders and Bards are the ones I know of (got alts <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />) You have 2 tabs, one for spells and one cor combat arts. The spells are affected by INT, the arts by STR. <div></div>

Don't worry about it.  Our pets are fine.  We are doing wonderful without a STR buff. <div></div>

<DIV>I translate this as another SOE attempt to get more people in crafting.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>time = crafting = more $ = better tiered spells = competitive player.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's already incredibly difficult to compete with players who craft 10+ hours a day and have a large bank account to spend freely. Dropped and quested loot are no where near comparible to current and future crafted items. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I thought one of EQ2's original intentions was to remember the casual gamers?</DIV>
