<DIV>Hi,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm going to sound really stupid here but I've got to ask anyway. How does Rescue work?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've had this spell for ages now and to be honest I don't think I've used it correctly once. Or put it this way, it's never worked when I've used it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From what I understand it's meant to more or less guaranteee me grabbing aggro back off a group member who is being hammered on. As I say though it's never worked for me once so most of the time I don't even have it on my hotkeys. I was in the Obilesk the other day though and someone grabbed aggro off a named we were fighting and after the fight was over he asked if I'd used Rescue to try and get aggro back, well that was one of the times I didn't even have it on my hotbar and he seemed a little upset!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So my questions are, is it a great spell and should I still be using it at 41, if I should how does it work? Should I target the mob, me or the team member with the aggro?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Many thanks guys.</DIV>

When you lose aggro you will generally notice that it takes more than 1 taunt to get it back. The best thing to do when you lose aggro and are going to need rescue is to make sure you have blown all your other taunts first. The skill as a whole can be a bit hit and miss at times anyway but its getting a pretty major buff come DoF, it will be increasing hate position by 3 and add around 1500 hate. Much nicer <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Farhane. <div></div>

rescue is one of your more importing skills in raiding also when u need a mt and ma. The ma pulls the adds with a aoe tunt and the mt rescues teh main boss off teh Ma

My interpretation of this spell is that it will put you above whoever is above you on the 'hate ladder' automatically. Does the spell work? It seems to, but it's not always going to peel because whoever is above you on the 'hate ladder' that you're now going to be ahead A.) might not have aggro, B.) one of their hate-increasing spells directly follows your Rescue spell and results in them having aggro again since you probably weren't too far ahead of them. So for example, lets say you have a Guardian and a Warlock: The Guardian is currently above the Warlock on the 'hate ladder' and is at 100 hate vs. the Warlock's 95 hate. The Warlock then casts whatever, resulting in their hate increasing by 20 more points (115 total). The Guardian's only increases by 10 (110 total). The Warlock is now at 115 hate vs. the Guardian's 110 hate, and he now has aggro. Guardian casts Rescue and is moved ahead by 1 position (above Warlock now) and increases his hate by X (say 5) amount (115 total). In this scenario, I see a couple possibilities 1.The two players now have the same amount of aggro, but someone has to have it. So until one of them does something to increase their hate, I'd assume that the Guardian would have aggro because he was previously moved ahead by a position, and the Warlock will only be able to move ahead if he generates more aggro than the Guardian. Basically, whoever does something to increase their hate first will end up with aggro. 2. Rescue is simply just followed by a spell from the Warlock that generates hate, and even if they aren't quite at the same hate, the Warlock moves back on top because he just generated more hate. I really don't know for sure if the spell works as intended or described. This might be completely wrong. <span><blockquote><hr>sylvore wrote:The best thing to do when you lose aggro and are going to need rescue is to make sure you have blown all your other taunts first. <div></div><hr></blockquote>I disagree with this to an extent. If you're saying that no other taunts should be up at the time of using Rescue because you should try to preserve the spell due to the long recast, then I can understand that. But if not, then I think that it would be wise to have atleast one taunt to follow Rescue.</span><div></div>

The reason I say that is because if you dont know if you are 2nd on hate list, so you blow your taunts first, make sure you are in 2nd and then blow rescue to take the lead aggro spot - with its +hate effect also your next set of taunts should be coming around to help you keep the aggro you have just gained. <DIV>My question is, do you have to be basically touching the group member your trying to get aggro from with Rescue? I have tried it several times from when I first got it way back to just recently and i can tell you it fails like 90% of the time.. I cannot remember the last time it actually worked so I have to assunme I am not using it correctly.. What I have been doing is getting right next to the group member that as aggro and hit Resuce.. Mob stays on his current target.. Doesn't even attempt</DIV> <DIV>to look my way. It's like I never even clicked the hot key. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can someone that has good success with rescue please post a step by step scenario inwhich they get rescue to work atleast semi-reliably? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks</DIV>

I've had a better success rate with it than 10%. But I do think that my failure rate is larger than my success rate. The process is pretty simple when I use it - I lose aggro, I cast a taunt or two (if possible) and then Rescue, and follow it by more taunts/spells that create hate. If this doesn't work, I normally just let the person die (about all I can do anyway). Keep in mind that this is all raid-based. I can't remember the last time that I've had a 'normal' group and used it. <div></div>
<P>Well I have been doing just that to get aggro back without even touching Rescue.. After two or three taunts, I have it back (Normally) but that can take up to 10+ seconds to achieve.. By that time the group member is dead or close to it.. </P> <P>I thought the purpose of Rescue was to immediately get aggro back. It puts you a little bit above the current aggro holder on the hate list plus adds a fixed amount of hate.. That tells me it should get you immediate aggro.. If you have to use two or three taunts for it to work then either the description is inaccurate or it's broke. </P> <P>I hope to god the new rescue is a heck of alot more reliable.. What a waste if they add all that hate just to have it fail or not work..</P> <P>Thanks for the replies.. </P> <P> </P>

The -after revamp- rescue now increases hate position by 3 and adds more hate. And has a shorter reuse timer. Should work more reliable then. <div></div>
