Screaming mace comes to mind, but can take a while to complete. Buy an ill fated cleric journal to start it or get one off Agony in Feerrott. Could also do the SoF access quest in CT (forgot name) for a nice 1h slasher (blood fire),  but the screaming mace is considered better. FBSS heritage is a good choice too (haste belt with fair stats). This is a bit easier than the previous 2 in that you don't really need a "large" group to complete it but it still takes a while. The series of quests in the Bloodline Chronicals AP rewards you with some +defence clickies which are good for those hard pulls. These might be soloable at high 40s-50 but not really sure (I remember some grey mob there hitting quite hard). They are the only quests that I found particularly useful tbh, I'm sure there must be others tho! <div></div>

IMHO Screaming mace is stupid. Get FBSS and Curn Eye necklace. Only stuff really useable at 50. If you are poor you can do bloodfire/screaming mace for some ghetto weapons. <div></div>

If your not in a hardcore raiding guild its not that easy to get hold of a nice 1H fabled weapon.

Screaming mace is just about the best one hander out there that can be obtained without needing a raidforce. For good upgrades to your fulg armor, besides ebon, look for the drops from Nek Castle: The return, or rubicite gear which I've seen drop in Cazic Thule, and Solusek's eye. The quest, "Saving soles" offer boots that have good power regen. I wear them if I'm not tanking anything difficult, or off tanking. Plus they have great heat resist. For a good shield, get a cedar, or try farming out the one group instance of maiden's gulch. For a bow, go cedar. For your wrists use treedin's mystical symbol, or trade with a mage for his glowing bracelet, or finish the quest on an alt. For rings do ruby. Some people say you may not be able to stack the buffs come the expansion, but that's ok they are still the one of the best rings out there. For your earring, stick with the fishbone, or possibly a flame lick stud. Don't remember where I got that but my guess would be Lavastorm. Also do the statue quest in permafrost. You'll get a nice necklace, and some good gold as well. If you plan on starting to raid any time soon you'll need to start working on your resist suits. Some mobs in the game have really nasty AOE's or spells that hammer you within seconds and you'll need to get resists for that. The major resists you need to plan for are: Cold: Everfrost solo giants, the writ ones, can drop some decent cold gear. It's mostly chain but hey whatever works. Heat: Sootfoot goblins in lavastorm drop sootfoot gear that offers heat resists. Also GEB's, flame licked stud... Poison: Not much here... there are a few waist items like the vine cinched sash, and armbands of swamp knowledge but not much else that's easily obtainable.... although Nek Castle 2.0 can drop a breastplate of the colossus that can help a little bit.
