"EQUIPMENT SETS
Equipment Sets are a new feature intended to simplify equipment management and remove the need for clunky equipment swapping macros."

So I decided to play around with it a bit today.

I found it better for me personally to continue using macros to swap gear.
My reason? Because I can set both my adventure gear & appearance gear with a macro. I can not do that with the new sets. Thus making it more mouse clicks to get the same effect.

For example, when I fight my mystic has Meathook equipped in her appearance weapon slot. When I craft I have the Deadly Mixing Spoon equipped in my primary weapon slot & with the appearance weapon left empty (I change this sometimes but this is how it is currently) so I can see I have my crafting set up on. I spent far too much time beating things up with my frying pan or spoon in my artisan tunic/othmir armor to want to not be able to visually differentiate the two sets.

Using the new equipment sets just leaves the meathook in no matter what unless I go and switch my appearance equipment set as well.

I also seem to have found a bug with it.

I have a Sanctum Trial Stone in one of my bank bags.

Every time I switch to a set I made, I get a message in red saying "Please remove the items from your bag before placing it in another bag." Then in white "Item Sanctum Trial Stone isn't equipable."

I think it is worth mentioning the trial stone was not in my personal inventory when I made the sets.

Perhaps set up a two-line change macro?
/equip_equipment_set 1 "Crafting Appearance"
/equip_equipment_Set 0 "Crafting Gear"

Still a macro, yes, but a smaller one, and you can keep all your updates in the Sets window.

No clue what's up with the sanctum trial stone

It's much better than my old macros ... changing a set is easy and you have a global view of it.

It's indeed almost perfect ... good job on that really.

who is this something those of us who can't get into the new zones or thier crafting houses can test to help squash bugs?

Thanks Finora for letting me borrow your character so I could identify the issue from the end of your post. And thanks for the feedback so far everyone.

I tested it with my ranger today. Same weird messages Finora was getting, I assume same cause. I liked the simplicity of setting them up, and the convenience - though I promptly overwrote my first set as I didn't hit the plus, and was still highlighting it. I think I'd likely still macro at least some sets, either to move appearance gear as she does, or to also equip the appropriate mount (for harvesting in particular), assuming that it is macroable.

One irritation - when using the equip macros, or doubleclicking an item in my inventory, it does a straight swap -- a cloak gets equipped, the unequipped cloak drops into the same bag slot in its place. Using these, that's not the case. Instead, the swapped out items all dropped into my first available bag slots! I have my bags quasi arranged, with all my tradeskill items in the same area for instance, and would want them to drop back into that back. I'd really like to see it continue the same one for one swapping in regards to bag slots, especially as bag 1 is my 'default loot' bag and what I'm selling from. Bags 4-6 tends to be the ones I mark for not selling, and store all my clickies and gear sets.

I really like the feature, but I know that bit would make me twitchy long term so glad to have it changed

I'm ok with it not swapping the mount (it would be nice, but I can see the issues). I'm no macro wiz, but I know I've seen one for swapping mounts, so assuming that macro could also trigger the equipment set it would work for me. I can see a few ways I'd use that -- harvesting gear and pegasus; tanking vs dps gear; appearance gear and ground mount for cities. This could really be fun

Could you mark items in equip sets with "not for sale" when they're added to equip sets? that way for those of us that just click sell on everything that's not marked as "not for sale" we won't sell our pretty pink outfits by accident.

Currently when you equip a 2hander it swaps with the main hand item and the offhand goes into first available bag.

When I first heard about equipment sets I was thinking : Hourra, I can clean my bank from all the apparence gear I own since 10 years. But no, I still need to use 10 X 10 X 2 slots for all 10 X 2 sets... No new tab like currency or mount where I can put all apparence gear and then choose some to create set. Set is only a simplier way to make a macro, not to gain place in banks/inventory slots.

My concern with that is that in describing it they said that you would put a piece of gear in and it would "eat" it but you could still use it for appearence on that character. That means that you'd have to get multiple copies of some of the gear if you wanted to use the same stuff on multiple characters. Not sure that I like that idea.

Actually reverted back to the default UI specifically to play around with this feature.

I do sort of like it, and was surprised to see that the system could actually identify between multiples of the same base item (i.e. that have been adorned differently). This was never the case with old "equip" macros via the traditional macro window, and is still an issue (if you have multiples of the same base item, it will swap them in randomly, regardless of how they have been adorned). Be swell if some similar detection could be added to the regular equip macros too.

It is a shame, though, that you are unable to use this while in combat. With equip (regular) macros, it will at least attempt to equip all of the items, but those slots that are locked due to combat won't be swapped (in other words, it could be useful for slots that can be hotswapped while in combat).

Another thought might be to have some sort of interactable buttons for each set, that you could then drag to an available hotbar slot (to equip each set). I suppose you can do it via creation of a macro with the appropriate command line, but that isn't so obvious to most people (and also wastes slots in the socials/macro pages).

Perhaps someone will take the time to create a compact UI window/mod for this, that can allow you to select sets from something like a dropdown menu.

My hope was that the slash commands would be sufficient to help reduce UI clutter, but this has been a popular bit of feedback.
