<DIV>Ok guardians, I've had enough with this spell. I am the MT for my guild, and while w'ere not perfect, we're not half bad. With no fabled gear on whatsoever, I'm able to bring my HP's up to around 9300hp, but my PR at best only touches around 2k.. usually it's closer to 1500 (1200 unbuffed). Before Lu12, I was able to tank the MG drakota with no issues; sure, once in a while she'd kick off Nil and it'd hurt, but only to the tune of around 3k.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Two nights ago, I pulled her and she blasted me for 8500 after landing her AE. The raid didn't live through the pull.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So the question stands - how do you beat this?. I know this isn't the only mob that uses it (faries in RV ring a bell for anyone?) and I'm honest to all tired of being slapped around like an enchanter when it hits. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Advice welcome.</DIV>

<div></div>To tank a mob with big nukes of type X.. you need 5k resist min.. 6k is nice.  7k = you won't get hit for crap. I self buff to like 4500 or so pr.. warlocks add 1500 or so, necros maybe 800, mystics maybe 800. <div></div><p>Message Edited by TunaBoo on <span class=date_text>08-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:46 PM</span>

What buffs do you use(yourself, obviously not the warlock etc..) to get up that high?  I assume you use a potion of some sort(with a little research that ones easily found), but do you have any gear that buffs it as well?  Just a curious question for up and coming guards getting into the raid scene. <div></div>

<div></div>Most of this stuff drops from raid mobs... some is quested... a good start on PR <img src="http://www.thetunaman.com/eq2/poison.jpg"> all of that together (2 braclets) is close to 3k PR.. plus my pants have 700.. but lots of other places to get PR <div></div><p>Message Edited by TunaBoo on <span class=date_text>08-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:55 PM</span>

<DIV>just wondering , do you have different set ups depending on which mob you are raiding ??</DIV>

<DIV>Thank you for the resist gear info, but I have to echo Drulak's question - do you use multiple sets of gear depending on what mob you're facing? And how does this effect your usual hp/mitigation?</DIV>

if you are having problems with poison on any mob, throw a warlock in your group. <div></div>

<DIV>One would need a warlock to do so. *grin*</DIV>

With me at all times I carry 2 full suits of gear. Some extra in case of 10 deaths in isntance. Some resist gear. In my bag right now I have 21 spare jewelery items 16 spare armor items 2 spare shields 10 spare weapons My normal gear you see in my bio is my AC gear. I'd just assume wear that. But the more I need resist X, and the less I am able to get (say our warlock didn't show), the more PR gear I would put on. In general.. jewelery I change freely as ery litle ac loss, just a minor stat loss. Almost awlays do like 1 braclet and necklace on PR mobs. If no warlock, i will also do boots and helm.. costs some ac, but in that situation it is worth it. You never NEED a warlock. Its about operating with waht you got, and making the mosto ut of it. <div></div>

<DIV>Resists are HUGH is this game.  I try to carry (or have in the bank) a set of gear for whatever we are facing.  Sootfoot gear has great heat resists and get be obtained relatively cheaply if you don't feel like farming.  Don't get stuck in the mind frame that your current gear is good for facing every enemy.  EQ2Players is a NICE tool for searching for items for resist type, then use your local broker to see if it can be obtained.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, group set up needs to change for encounters too.  Have a Warlock/Dirge in your grp to help boost your Poison resists on those Nil Distortions.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wabash Cannonbal</DIV> <DIV>50 Guardian/50 Weaponsmith</DIV>

Sadly not much help I can give.. get almost 1 per x4 contested you kill. Kill contested, or buy off someone who does. (I personally put 6 billion on broker for 50-75 gp for people who want but aren't able to kill contested). <div></div>

<span><blockquote><hr>Tehhu wrote:if you are having problems with poison on any mob, throw a warlock in your group. <div></div><hr></blockquote>I have to agree.  With our group and single target buffs we can add 1500-1600 to your poison buff. The warlock should have 6 groups buffs and 5 single buffs they can throw on you.  Most people forget about the old ones - but imho every little bit helps (and costs nothing).</span><div></div>

A little but maybe nice upgrade for the treedin's symbol is web of chalandria. Wrist item, +280 vs Poison compared to +160 from symbol. That's 240 more with 2 webs. Drops in Nektropos Castle (lvl 50 instance) <div></div>

<P>carry pr gear ( grass lined greaves is a cheap leg slot one to add to tuna's list) , Kistons protection potion and have a dirge and a warlock = 5k+ pr easy</P> <P>I had to work out how to take down this mob before i knew the trick everyone else was using to avoid the ae. Went back with my new guild last week and said that we needed high pr as the aoe was now fixed, they said 'nah itll be fine' .... 2 min later wipe <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P> </P>
