Repairing the Records

For the quest Repairing the Records it shows that the Restoration of Damaged Scrolls recipe is scribed but it does not show up anywhere in your recipe book. No way to craft it.

on this quest and had to zone to timorous deep to hit up a fuel merchant....couldn't find fuel merchant anywhere near skrit.

There are no fuel merchants at any of the tradeskill quest spots in the expansion content (at least at this point). It is a good idea to snag a bit of the various types of effulgent fuel before you head out.

Greetings,<br />I am happy to report that the recipe showed up in me backpack I scribed it and completed the quest Scipt looked ok. What a relief it is tyvm SOE for makin that happen, Also TS apprentice is still working away and is showing good progress.<br />I am wondering why no TS xp is given from these quests I haven't neede any Far Seas faction for quite a while unless the cap on that is being raised past 50k ally. Oh and on harvesting will we be getting skill up points on harvests?

I still can not progress on this quest...there was no recipe when I first tried the quest as stated before ..so...I deleted the quest and the records hoping to back up to the quest before, however, that isn't what's happened she still gives me repairing the records and of course I have no records as I discarded them. So I am in a repeating loop, shes asking me to repair records that I do not have any longer.

ok im gonna run through this one more time...I had quested up to this point...*repairing the records" three days ago...although the quest said I had scribed the recipe..it wasn't in my recipe book, nor could I repair them. So I deleted the quest and tried again. Skrit gave me "repairing the records...again" but I was in same fix ... no recipie even though it said I had it.I then deleted the quest and the records..thinking skrit would give me the previous quest....She didn't she again gave me "repairing the records again...at this point I had no recipe or records <img src="/images/smilies/frown.gif" alt="Frown" />...So I waited for the fix. After the fix lol I get the same thing..she keeps giving me "repairing the records". I do get a recipe now but I don't have any records to repair. It will not back up to the quest preceding and there are no records to me to get.I guess because I collected them on the previous quest. Im done ..I'll just wait for the game to come out. <img src="/images/smilies/frown.gif" alt="Frown" />

It is a hazard of early beta that you can end up badly bugged enough that a fresh start is needed. {points at Kuulei} Kuu was a level 100 adventurer when she deleted and recopied due to bugs. Just remember to snag things like your crafting potions and such on your live character and plop yourself in a city zone before you copy.

FYI, currently you can harvest additional "a damaged note" components over by the tower while on Repairing the Records. So if you deleted the pages (or failed a combine) you can go get more.<br /> <br />Something I did not expect: I tried using Mass Production to make all 5 restored notes at once - and it worked. I was fully expecting to only get credit for 1 restored note and have to try collecting more pages (which is what I intended to test). Quest recipes almost never give credit for all items produced when using Mass Production. Given that replacement mats are obtainable, is this intentional?

Domino? Remember when I posted a couple days ago that I could harvest additional "a damaged note"s for this quest?<br /> <br />Today I can't. I can SEE them, but can't harvest them.<br /> <br />I think someone toggled the "harvestable" switch once too often?<br /> <br />edit: Okay, even weirder. As soon as I finished crafting the 5 notes (I was using a summoned station in the dig site), I was able to gather the damaged ones again.

That fix you put in, so Mass Production no longer worked?<br /> <br />Mass Production still works. Quest is Restoring the Records. Char I was using today didn't have Mass Production spec'd, but was wearing the Hand of the Maker gloves. Crafted 5 restored notes at once, got 5 updates.<br /> <br />Even MORE interesting, I tried deleting the quest and getting it again to see if it'd let me collect more damaged ones, and the quest immediately updated for all 5 restored notes! Third try I deleted the restored notes from my inventory, then deleted the quest, and when I got the quest back it didn't auto-update. So problem seems to be the crafting results are going to inventory, and the quest is counting the inventory rather than the crafting updates.<br /> <br />Also on this quest, since I'd used all my damaged notes, I tried to get more. I was able to harvest one, and then they stopped being harvestable. If I deleted the one in my inventory, I could then harvest another, but again only 1. Apparently once you have the 10 you need for Scampering to Investigate, you can't harvest the notes if you have one in inventory. If the recipe only needed 1 to craft this could actually be workable, if tedious, but since it requires 2...

Same as above, I failed on making my 5th repaired note, so I went to harvest another but you need 2 damaged to make 1 repaired, so I deleted the quest and the things from my invent and tried again. However I can only pick up 1 at a time... So at the moment it's impossible for me to advance the TS quests, which is a real pain. I really do not fancy having to re-copy my char as I've done a tonne of overland quests trying to get the hellhound mount for my live character.. /sigh.?<br /><br />Will this be fixed at any point in the near future?

It also happened to me. I failed on my last combine in making a repaired note and now I cannot harvest enough damaged notes to complete a combine. I have deleted the quest and removed repaired/damaged notes from my inventory yet still cannot harvest them.<br /> <br />Will this be fixed in beta? I really don't want to re-copy my character since I am so advanced into the signature quest line.<br /> <br />Thanks!

I just checked in a fix today, you should be able to get 2 damaged notes at a time if you're on "Repairing the Records" and failed a combine. Should show up on beta in a day or two.

Picking up two extra notes after a failed combine worked well. It just took me a while to figure out it would because the area wasn't highlighted in the map.
