i got selloxia's daunting cry, due to it's an aoe that lowers atk rating and works on epic mobs, unlike smothering cry that does not work on epic mobs, and the trait aoe taunt adds about the same amount of hate as smothering cry. aoe taunts always good

I got Daunting Cry initially, but it soon gets replaced. I ended up respecing to get Slates and am very happy with it.

Slates is on a seperate timer than taunting challenge so you can use them both when you need to grab aggro back, very handy.

id have to go with the aoe taunt, , is what i got it works on epic mobs mym only arguement against slates, is the more attacks you do, the more ripostes you get so in the long run i think the aoe taunt is best

The slates description is wrong. It doesnt increase your attack speed it increases your mitigation. The mitigation buff does not wear off in time it takes for skill to refresh either. It stacks with every other taunt also on its own timer. It is very nice IMO.

They are lifting protect / smothering cry not working on epics when combat revamp goes live. Also commanding pressence and taunting assault is really plenty for any ae aggro you need. You can never have enough single person taunts when having to snap aggro on to yourself. Especially when it can take many taunts to get it off. Slates lowers dps by 5% and boosts mitigation to all physical dmg by 126. The taunt difference in seloxias and shouting cry just isnt high enough IMO to not take advantage of the mitigation buff.

Slate's Invigorating Threat is an extra taunt. Not a reaplcement, not an upgrade. Extra. Single. Taunt. Slate's Invigorating Threat is the ONLY choice for a guardian hoiping to be a maintank, as without it you lose 15% or so of your aggro potential. Epic aoe aggro is reallly reallly really easy to hold (taunting assault + level 26 taunt can hold a warlock doing 700 aoe dps no problem).Really good single target DPS are always the hardest to hold. Single taunts are where it is at.

Message Edited by TunaBoo on 08-03-2005 04:05 AM

in all honesty you can be main tank without any of those skills keep aggro isnt hard on any mob with deafen, taunting assault, and the 2 slap taunts

It's never "hard" to keep aggro, but the stronger your aggro and the faster your aggro recovery, the better you will do maintanking. If all you do is sit back and bow WoF mobs you are doing something wrong.
