n00b tank question

<DIV>Hey guys im sure this has been asked before, but I cant find anything with the search option. How do you figure your actual mitigation number? Like when I go to my profile screen, it shows my mitigation as a % yet when I inspect other tanks, it shows their mitigation as a number like 1055.. Is there a formula? Thanks ahead of time.</DIV>

Go up to your name window that health / power bar also. Right click and choose to inspect yourself. Will show you your raw number Mitigation. I do not know if there is another way it is just how i have always done it.

You can also work backwords as well from your mitigation percentage. With your current percentage (it assumes you're going to be fighting mobs the same level as yourself), multiply that by your current level. If it says you have 50% mitigation and you're a level 50, your mitigation value is 2500. Once you have your value, you can take that even further, let's say you're tanking Darathar with 2500 mitigation (woe be to you).  Since he's a level 58 mob, 2500/58 = 43.1% mitigation on him. <P>So the basic formulas are. </P> <P>(%mit * lvl&nbsp<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> = value </P> <P>Now that is for you to conver the numbers you see to something that can be used in the other equation.</P> <P>value/mobs lvl = mit% against mob.</P> <P>*note* the value you see when you con someone is the same value as what a mob sees. Thus sub in you level to figure out the char mitgation again you, thus mobs you level.  So  if  for example  you and a pally/zerker/monk/whoever want to see who has the higher mitgation % and you are the same level, you know your mitigation %  you just need to use the 2nd formula to figure out theirs, or the 1st one to figure out your value.  </P> <P>example: You and a pally are both level 50. </P> <P>You can  do the math on you to find the value and compare or do the math on them to compare. </P> <P>You  have 54.3% =  54.3 * 50 = 2715</P> <P>Inspect pally  and the had 2700 = 2700 / 50 =54% mit (against even con mobs/you in comparison). There for you have  0.3% better mitigation. Also remember when you inspect a person the number you see is the raw mit and the % is affected by the level of person/mob that hits them.  Thus the higher the raw number the better mit% all around. </P> <P>Hope this helps.  Heck when I get home I ll write up a little program that will do the math for you (not that it's hard to do).  That way until they change the way things are calculated it will be nice and easy to use when inspecting anyone to see their mitigation % against you.</P> <DIV> </DIV>
