<DIV>Just hit Guardian 50 and I've survived best so far when I as the MT pull.  Bow, Anchor, Deafen, Protect, Commanding Presence, whatever....  Always seemed easier and simpler to keep aggro I alredy have rather than getting it off somebody else.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, some folks I've spoken with lately have hinted that for Big Huge encounters like epic x4 54+ the MT should not pull, or at least should not always pull.  Somebody else should pull, then the MT can peel it off them at the start of the encounter.  The two reasons given have been:</DIV> <DIV>a) Rangers and Summoners with pets can pull from a longer range more safely, and</DIV> <DIV>b) The initial pull can often result in the mob directing it's biggest attack at the puller, right off the bat.  Think Ice Comet.  And it's nice to not lose the MT 3 seconds into the encounter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So I was curious to hear from established raiding MTs:</DIV> <OL> <LI>In general, for epic encounters do you pull or does someone else?  </LI> <LI>If your answer was someone else, what class do you think does it best?</LI> <LI>And lastly, do you have certain special encounters where you don't pull, or is it best to just buff up to the point that you can survive the initial big hit no matter what it is, since you will probably get hit with it later in the encounter anyway?</LI></OL> <DIV>Thanks,</DIV> <DIV>RP</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by RandomPlayer on <span class=date_text>07-27-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:55 AM</span>

Only time you don;t want to pull is a) Realllly long pulls. On really long pulls, you go out of buff range, then back in on the run. This leaders to all your healers etc. getting mauled and a fast wipe. b) Where there is a main mob and X little mobs, and you want a 2nd tank to tank the little mobs. In this case, let the 2nd tank pull the counter and slam aoes, and the main tank turn to the main mob and slam single taunts to split it off. Need to split fast before reactives get ticking. <div></div>

<P>seems almost impossible to pull raid mobs off each other without rescue though, and that is working like crap right now. Inside the mob slamming rescue and all I get is too far away, too far away, too far away</P> <P>mainly because once the MT gets hit those reactives go nuts and that's that. He has agro...period. Which is great, unless you WANT to peel a mob off...stupid Overlord Oxulius...</P>

Will be fun when they fiddle with healing agro. At the moment MT can go LD when Venekor is at 30% and the whole raid may not notice it. Really really fun days awaits us when they get around to fixing reactive heal agro.

Yes its hard to pull mobs off someone with reactives. This is why you have the 2nd tank pull the encounter, and on the run back you just single taunt the big boy off. Works like a charm. <div></div>
