<DIV>I tried to search for my question about didnt come up with anything, maybe the search is just botched... my question is, im using a 1 hander and shield. Should I look for the slowest weapon possible to prevent repost's and such? I dont really care about doing DPS (thats what I have 4 DPS class's in my group for hehe) Or does a slower weapon not really matter much as far as repost's go?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, off the topic but is there a website devoted to just Guardians? like scouts have Scoutsanctuary.com and so forth..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Another question, how do you calculate your actual Defence number? When i inspect myself I only see mitigation as a % yet when I inspect others I see their mitgation/defence as a number.</DIV><p>Message Edited by BuzzKillDOA on <span class=date_text>07-26-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:29 AM</span>

<P>If your healer is having problems healing you then anything to reduce damage helps and a slower weapon does help that. Every time you swing the monster rolls to see if you hit/miss or if they parry, riposte or block. If you swing fewer times then you have less chance to get riposted. Also, the hit from a riposte is just a normal hit from the monster and not a CA. You do get the chance to parry/block/riposte/avoid a riposte hit also.</P> <P>Monsters like Drathar have NASTY riposte (5-6K on a decent mitigated tank) and most MT's for him just stand there and taunt and only attack with taunt attacks and then turn attack off.</P>

For tanking, slower weapon = less rippos = less damage taken = good For DPSing, slower wepon = more room to haste = more dps So basicaly.. the slower the weapon the better in all cases. There is a reason a royal great flail does x4 the damage of a prismatic DW... its so slow at 3.8 seconds, tons of room for haste. <div></div>

Tuna can you explain the haste situation to me? I'm a little confused, and I know everyone has different opinions about 2H vs Dual Weild and Slow Delay vs Long Delay but have never understood the difference for haste. <div></div>

Well... when you are using a combat art, your weapon cannot swing. Say your art takes like 1 second, and you have a 3.8 sec flail would look like [flail] - - - - - [flail] - - - - - [flail] - [art] - [art] - [flail] - - - -[flail] You do the arts between the flail swings and never miss any. But say a DW [left] - [right] - [left] - [right] -[art] - [art] - [art] - [right] - [left] Hard to draw out.. but the idea is your arts are taking away auto attack swings... the idea is with a slow weapon, you can time hits in between the auto attacks, and never lose an auto attack... Also, we suspect that there is a haste cap of around .5seconds (not real sure on exact). So with a 1.0 second weapon, 100% haste is your max. With a 3.8 second weapon, you could get like 400% haste and still not reach the cap. Even if there IS no haste cap, the reason above explains why slow are often better. <div></div>

Okay so for timing attacks in between CAs I can see how slow is better. But I would think that is much harder. You would really have to be paying attention in order to time it right, and if you miss judged the time with a 3.8 delay that really hurts, but you are more likely to get at least a couple hits in with the DWs. Having to concentrate on holding aggro along with watching delay is tough, although if you master it which I am sure you have it most work wonders. Although I lag out at least 3 times a fight making timing attacks near impossible lol. All my money is being poured into armor anyway so I will just use the free HQ reward DW weapons until I come across a nice 2H Fabled weapon. <div></div>

Nah if yuu miss time it, it just pushed your attack back. If you use a 1 second attack right where a 3.8 is supposed to swing.. it just comes1 second late.. vs a 1s weapon being an entire swing delayed. <div></div>

Slow is better....at least thats what the women say =P <div></div>
With the combat changes just around the corner I would hesitate to make any investments in new weapons or combat arts. If one falls into your hands fine...I have a feeling that there will be either a hard cap on haste, or we won't be able to stack haste as much anymore. It is also possible that shields will become much more important...just hard to say.

<DIV>Nice info here!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But like Migyb said, you might want to hold up on any expensive purchases till the combat revamp comes along.</DIV>

I would have to agree that currently a longer delay weapon is more effective , but would also agree with the other posters about the revamp. Alot of things will be changed , and we will have to wait to see how it all turns out. The skills have changed the mechanics of auto attack dps , and I dont think it was completely taken into account.
