I should be hitting 40 sometime next week, but i'm unsure of what gear to buy.  I'm guildless and been pretty much soloing 95% of the time (i play from work), so i don't know what people are using and such.  The thread from Tunaboo on equipment for 40-50 is just WAY out of my range to even consider, as i'm looking for stuff available from the brokers. What can i buy with 3pp?  Maybe as much as 6pp if i sell my horse as well. <div></div>

Ebon is choice, but aside that I think you'd be good in Fulginate gear. Nightblood Gauntlets and Legs give some pretty nice hp to them as well, for cheap. <div></div>

<P>Don't sell the horse.</P> <P>1. Buy full set of Fulginate, with the BP and Legs imbued, minus the boots.<BR>2. Run the Jboots quest, that'll get you set for your boots at 42.<BR>3. Work on the FBSS quest, that'll set your waist at 42 as well.<BR>4. Your jewelry will basically be taken care of through various quests and such but I would still invest in a couple of the Imbued Bloodstone rings.<BR>5. For a shield just get the SBS quest finished.<BR><BR>That's about it for the basics and won't cost you a fortune, just a bit of time for the Heritages. If those aren't an option then just keep an eye for good deals on the broker with the slots and stats you need. 3pp will cover everything and then some. Plus, in T5 you'll end up making more from drops and such so you won't have much to worry about at all.</P>

<P>Yeah, Trayson pretty much wrapped it up right there. Fulginate is the way to go until you happen across some Ebon. Do the statue quest in Permafrost and take one of the necklaces from that. Fishbone earring is fine. Do the glowing shard collection quest for a bracelet, and do the access quest for the Drafling Tower and get Treedin's Mystical symbol for your other wrist. Like Trayson said, the imbued bloodstone rings will suit you well. The Shiny Brass Shield is good too, but if you find a cedar or just want to buy one, not that expensive, get an imbued cedar tower shield. </P> <P>For a weapon, again no money involved here. Do the heart of Fear quest and take either Bloodfire or Monsoon. I prefer Bloodfire, but up to you. Screaming Mace is a superb weapon, and a heritage, so no cost to you except time spent camping...=)</P> <P>That's what I used for a long long time and I was fine. Every time I stumbled across and Ebon or a mob dropped one, I got a piece made until I was fully outfitted in Ebon. </P> <P>Keep your horse and you wont have to spend much more than about 50gp on the fulginate stuff depending on your server.</P>

I'm in the same boat, i'm a 39 Guardian at the moment.  In EF and PF I have gotten quite a few armor drops, trouble is my cuirass (rubicite vanguard) can't be worn until level 42.  So I figured buying something for 2 levels would be a waste of coin, but then again my current cuirass is outdated and not even as good as feyiron.  I will be honest I can be a bit tight on spending my coin, I never want to waste it.  I see a lot of the 40-50 armor does not go from 40-50 but rather 42-47 or 44-49.  It is driving me crazy because I don't want to buy 3 sets of armor.  And as for ebon armor, I spent 6 hours harvesting in EF and didn't get a single rare, so I'm not even considering that anymore.  Oh well, having bad equipment only makes it more challenging and more fun.  <div></div>

<DIV>You'll be 42 soon enough and the rubicite stuff is worth waiting for. The rubucite bracers that are pretty common from Rivervale are nice too. Whatever you dont have a piece of t5 armor for already I would go ahead and get fulginate for. There's nothing wrong with saving your money, I did it too. Honestly having your taunts and hate building arts upgraded are more important than having all Ebon. But it's definitely a plus. So stick with what you have and buy fulginate to fill the holes.</DIV>

<DIV> <DIV>I also am guildless and am lvl 42 atm. I would go with fulginate and whatever quests you can do to get better.. What I did around lvl 39ish was, go to RV and start farming ebon clusters.. I now have a full set of ebon (Less the boots.. did the J-boots quest). The J-boots quest was by far the most fun I had on a quest.. a bit stressful at times but a ton of fun. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yea the ebon clusters are infact rare.. but with the other rares you get you sell them to buy the ebon clusters/bent disks and ebon coins.. I farmed 5 ebon clusters and bought one ebon disk for the 6th piece of armor (Only because I was impatient and had the cash). I did get 2 ebon clusters in three nights in a row so that is possible <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is a named rat (Blightwhip 40 ^^) that drops bent ebon disks so I always tried to kill him in hopes I got one.. I never did though( and a named Scarecrow </DIV> <DIV>(Shakey 41 ^^) also drops bent disks. When ever possible, get a group (I have killed them both with 4 in group) and kill these two.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a high lvl armorer friend that made the gear for me. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It kinda sucked farming RV being all mobs were aggro to me. It took awhile but I got the aggro range of the mobs down pretty good and at around lvl 40 I could let most mobs just bang on me while I farm. Then just run after the node is gone. At 42 I still can't let the lvl 40 ^^ tainted nymphs bang on me as they nuke also.  Will be nice to get to 46 so I can farm alot more places in RV freely.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Having a 32% horse helps also.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the shield, if you are infact farming RV for rares you will come across a "Severed Cedar" off the logs.. take that cedar and an extract and have a "Pristine Imbued Cedar Tower Shield" made for ya. Thats what I did.. Very nice shield and equippable at 40. Look it up you will see what I am talking about and you can't beat the price.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>BEWARE: There is a white kinda transparent doggie (Mangler 48 ^ ^ ^ Epicx2) that roams around there. I was not aware of this and met him face to face. Was the fastest death to date. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Keep in mind that when I decided to go for the ebon armor, I decided to level only on the weekends.. I farmed 3-4 hours a night 4-5 days a week for quite awhile so you will have to dedicate some time to it. The time invested is well worth it though.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV></DIV> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P><p>Message Edited by Trook on <span class=date_text>07-26-2005</span> <span class=time_text>04:30 AM</span>

<DIV>You can tank any mob in the game in fulginate.</DIV>

<P>Check out the splitpaw shoulders <A href="http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/items/ShoulderPadsoftheForsaken.php" target=_blank>Shoulder Pads of the Forsaken</A> as well.  They lack in resists, but have more HP than fulganite.</P> <P>You can also pick up a <A href="http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/items/AncientSlayersRingofStamina.php" target=_blank>Ancient Slayer's Ring of Stamina</A> from a condemned catacombs quest where the named will be a grey ^^^ mob that you can probably duo (although it'll be a long fight).  It'll be blue at 40, but it's free  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

I just got another Master spell, so i've got a few more pp now... and i sometimes see ebon pieces for as low as 2pp each.  Is it worth it to upgrade to that?  I'm kind of hesistant since DoF expansion will be out soon.</DIV>

And a question on Hex Dolls... how do they work?  Just having them in the activatible slots will give me the stats increase?  Or do i need to use the dolls?  And if use it, how many charges do they have? <div></div>

<DIV>Ebon is a pretty hefty mitigation increase, as well as stats and resists on Ebon are better than fulginate. 2pp isn't a bad price, but if you are going to buy a piece of Ebon, get your breastplate or legs done first, and imbued. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For the hex dolls, yes just having them equipped in the activatable slot gives you the stats. The effect on them is a debuff, with like a 10 second cast or something. Not used very often. It has unlimited charges.</DIV>
