Just got Rescue (Master I) as a drop, I am wondering if it is worth it to scribe or should I just sell it? What I want to know is if this is a skill I will be using at 50, or hell, even if it is worth using at all to begin with. It seems to me that it only works about 50% of the time as is..oh well any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know this for a fact, but just from my observation so anyone feel free to correct me.

Seems like the hate part on it works but not the part part where it's suppose to move you up the hate list one notch. Seems to me like it works only 50% of the time because it generates just enough hate to get us back to the top of the list sometimes.

In my opinion I'd scribe it though. Any extra hate you can get could save you in a pinch. Plus I'm a nerd and want all my buttons to say Master I .

Wabash Cannonbal

50 Guardian/50 Weaponsmith

i don't use it, the power/time (alot of time) it takes to cast is better spent hitting another taunt button or 2.

I happen to agree with Wabash. The part about increasing threat priority of the target by 1 position probably is broken. And as a 49 Guardian, I do use this ability. It's not part of my normal taunt regimine, but it is very usefull in that certain situation where the Wizzy decides to cast Ice Comet on Incomming. Once you go through the mental riga-ma-roll to decide if the wizzy deserves to die, I throw every taunt I have at the mob to bring him under control.

Yes the recast time on this ability is very long, but an INSTANT cast 509 taunt (at Adept 1) is worth using. And who knows, maybe SOE will get around to fixing the Threat Priority thing.

Odauk

49 Guardian/49 Armorer Mistmoore

I've been keeping track. I try to use rescue just for the sake of testing it out.

I'm 40 and have rescue at Adept 1.

Of the 14 times I have used rescue I have only managed to turn the mob to me once.

Mind you this is usually used right after I have lost aggro. So it does not generate more hate than a single heal. Use any of your other buffing abilities "command presence, battle cry, etc..." if you want aggro. Sell rescue to someone who is filling out their abilities or hold on to it till the Developers fix it.

I have bugged this ability 5 times to date.
Thx Ogazami

Rescue is nice, and it works. Sounds like some dont know how to use it. When someone steals aggro, try this. Hit a taunt or two, then rescue... if that dont grab it the next taunt will....

It works for me, and its a hell of alot more then one out of 14. In fact, it almost always works.

As I read it rescue works by putting you to 1 hate point higher than whoever currently has aggro. ie identical to a (successful) taunt in eq1.

This is an important distinction from a fixed hate add ability DAOC and other non EQ1 tanks playing EQ2 need to consider carefully. Used correctly that makes it a complete godsend <insert thanks to relevant god here>. Used incorrectly it is all but worthless.

Given my understanding above is correct the only effective way to deploy it is to use it FIRST then promptly generate additional hate via taunts/dmg to boost your edge over the person who had aggro asap.

If you don't do this, then as soon as the person does additional heals or dmg worth more than your one paltry point of hate, ie during a dot, dot heal, letting off that next nuke, etc. they reacquire aggro and you have to play catch up again.

This makes it a great tool when used well.

Powerful as it is, it doesn't change the problem of a suicidal wizard who is manaburning, simply because their rate of acquired hate after your use of rescue will still outstrip you - rescue is great for catch ups for that aberrant loss of aggro, but doesnt change the basic rule - the tank must sustain the greatest aggro over time.

Yup, rescue, taunt, taunt. Thats the way to use it, if it worked. But it dosn't, sorry folks.... I group with a beserker friend all the time, we played with rescue a ton, i'd have her pull agro and then as soon as she did, turnsoff attack. From this, I can tell ya, your time is better spent casting other grey (faster casting) taunts and hitting your 30second buff. This may all change tho when grey spells get nerfed.
