Hi, I went into Splitpaw for the first time over the weekend and didn't do so well.

I understand now that I was in the first level, delving into the darkness, and as soon as I zoned in there were two 33 mobs wandering around which were easily killed. The next room however was full of groups of four level 36 mobs! I'm 35 and there was no way I could kill a group of 4 36's yellows in one go. I ended up killing one or two and then running for it until the mobs left gave up chasing me and then I recovered to full health and went and finished the survivors off. This sometimes took 2 or 3 attempts to kill off one group of 4 mobs and it wasn't exactly fun!

As there were 2 or 3 groups of 4 like this in the one room and the passage way beyond seemed to be full of the same thing I eventually gave up.

Am I mean't to be soloing this or not? I understand the aim of the first part is to get another shard which lets me go into other splitpaw zones, I don't know how far that new shard is from the zone in but it would take me hours to get to it fighting the way I was!

Anyone care to share their tatics with me for getting through this first stage, I'm level 35 and although not brilliantly equipped I'm not that bad either.

Thanks

Delving can be tough if soloing it vs the group mobs. But they are only tuff with the letch and tesch as i cane remmeber which one but they are teh DPS and tanks. Rosch are mages and Nisch or healers, i always look to take these out first and then either letch or tesch. For the running away part, i have to do the same. If they have lets say 1 rosh and 3 of the tanks/dps it becomes real hard and i have to run and come back to finish them off.

I soloed it fine, but that doesn't help you any so here comes some advice if you're looking for it... Duo it. Grab a warlock or wizard or any other high DPS type and duo it. It becomes sickenly easy. You could possibly take a priest class in or even an enchanter, but with a DPS class it can go a lot faster. You can often have the DPS partner target some of the weaker mobs while you distract healers. Often your DPS partner will just about kill the low HP mobs and cause the healers to switch to heal mode - that's when you lay into them with stuns/stifles/mana dots/interrupts. Sychopants seem to be enchanters (go down fast, can sometimes mez or stifle you) Agitators seem to be conjurers (go down fast - drop them and their pets go too) Heretics seem to be necromancers (go down fast, sometimes fear you) Pariahs seem to be priest types (primary targets, hit with stifling attacks or stuns because they might get a stifle off on you and that just sucks - get them worried about staying alive vs. debuffing you, this means they eat their mana and you have one less opponent actively attacking you) Brewers seem to be druids of some sort (primary targets as well) The rest seem to be bruisers, bards or scouts of some sort. I would suggest killing anything other than Brutes or Miners if none of the above are left standing, the Brutes and Miners seem to have a fair bit of HPs on them so you might be flailing away at them longer than the other mobs - get the other stuff dead fast. If you're duoing this, be sure to taunt and keep the mobs off the DPS person, especially if the DPS member is wearing a dress. :smileytongue: In such a case, don't bother with using any intervene, though something like Allay might help their avoidance.

Aye,

Learn the names of the gnolls and it becomes a fairly easy and safe solo.

Entrench/anchor the Scout or Monk, Kill the mages, then the healers, then work your way up the DPS scale killing the guardians last

While the mobs seem like they should beat you, their HPs are scaled to an individual encounter so they go down fairly quick.

I noticed last time in too, they made the final MOBs group only a group of 4 instead of 5 so that's easier now too.

PS< the spider chest is back in the game now too.

Not meaning any offense to the OP, but if you cant take the gnolls out there, you are doing something drastically wrong. I went there today ( Level 50 guard) so the grouped mobs by the broken teleporter in the next room were all 50's while the other groups in the room were comprised of 48-49's. I cleared the room in no time and hardly broke a sweat. As long as you have decent armour and keep your buffs up, you should have no problems at all. What con is your armour and weapons?

I did That same instance when I was 35 as well. Learn the MOBS types and it is MUCH easier. Kill the casters first. The melee here won't kill you, it's the spells that do.

That and make sure to keep up Defiant Cry

PS, As you get higher level and more combat arts this gets much easier as well. I think around 39 was the hardest time I had.

I solo'ed it last night. Was very challenging.

Keys to victory

Kill mobs in this order (couldn't tell you their names).

Mages

Priests

Scout types

Fighter types

Run away and /yell if you are getting your behind handed to you. I had to do this in one fight after I killed the first mob (mage type) I had to run because I was at 25% health. They let go quickly and the mage did not respawn.

If you have it use your Gnoll trait if you have it. It will allow you to do more damage and kill the mobs quicker.

The group mobs are not the worst part. I found that the solo mobs without and down arrows (especially the mages and priest) to be tougher.

Good luck.

hmmm , maybe it is a level thing , but i started in here at about 44 and although suprised i could kill 5 yellows , it was suprisingly easy. the mobs are scaled to a solo attacker and go down quickly. I have had to run , when i got a group plus 2 wanderings attacking me at same time, but otherwise it was fine.

I have heard it said that our buffs scale and so are much more useful the higher we are , so maybe thats what it is ? but even so , make sure to have all buffs up 100% of the time , else you will take a beating.

Also , my wizard alt cannot solo this at all , so as a previous poster said , ask for a wizzie / warlock duo partner , they will be more than happy to join you.

(oh another way would be to buy some potions , plus to str/sta and agi , a healing potion and maybe the power regen , max hp buff )

Message Edited by Drulak on 08-02-2005 02:22 PM
