View Full Version : When tank/ pure healer duo become good exp ?
<DIV>ATM I am doing Warrior + Priest duo and EXP wize, it suck bad.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Maybe thats becuz we still low in lvl's so I am not a big help for him.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What I mean if that we can kill mobs only 1+ lvl duoing then what a warrior is usualy solo. So 1 kill is not iving us a real boost of EXP. Also I do only heal her so I am not helping a to kill the target faster.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I Tryed warlock/temp duo and warlok/monk duo. Both were freaking good exp. While he warrior do betther exp soloing then duoing with my priest. Even when I do Mentoring her with the templar of my brother.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Are we doing something wrong ? we jump on target +1+2 lvl.</DIV>
WHat i find is that me vs another mob is average exp. Me vs another mob (of the same lvl) with partner tends to be slight dint in exp. Me vs Encounter = woot exp. Me/Partner vs Encounter = woot exp. ^^ I dont know if any of this is actually correct in general but for me thats what i see. Solo vs Solo and Two vs Solo i find really bad unless its a Heroic mob. When its an eno[expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]er the exp turns very good. <div></div>

<DIV>If you're playing smart (food/drink, mana conversation tactics, chain pulling) then a Warrior/Priest (Guardian/Templar) is good, steady exp. You won't kill 'em quick but you'll kill 'em and you'll be able to go out pulling almost immediately. The thing you have to remember is that neither class is high on the DPS list. So if you can, add a 3rd person who's a DPS class and then go to town.</DIV>

<DIV>Your xp income rate is very depending on how fast you dish out damage. I think you point out part of the problem in your post, you only heal the tank. While a war/healer combo never can be stellar dps, both should try contribute their best to dps. Meele and nuke.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The low dps of the war/healer combo will mean it takes you longer to kill stuff, however your downtime between fights should be less so to some extent it evens out compared to more high-dps groups.</DIV>

Hmm, Warrior/Priest duo should work nicely...Ive duoed most of my levels with a Fury friend. If your just after EXP stay away from caster/priest mobs...stick to pure melee mobs. With proper armor, using all your buffs you should require very little healing (i.e priest can DPS) if any against most exp level mobs. Also ive found that if i try to stick to groups of 4+ ^ or no arrow mobs instead of single ^^ mobs the exp rate is greater due to a much quicker kill rate. One example of good exp for us was the groups of halflings and nightbloods in RV. It takes a Guardian/Fury a long [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] time to kill single ^^ mobs. I would imagine with a Cleric instead of Druid it would be even longer. Furies really do boost melee DPS quite abit. <div></div>
<BR> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> "I walk around in 500 lbs of Heavy Armor, I carry a shield bigger than Gnomes ...yet I can still do back flips and dance like no other avoiding 70% of my enemies hits <BR> <BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE><BR> <DIV>The funy thing is that the england army became really powerfull when they found how bad it was to use a full plat armor. It was common belive that Heavy full plate was the besta rmor so all rich dude were using this. But some smart guys found it was a way betther to be able to move faster with a chain mail only. Especialy that a full plate is not a really big protection liek we could think.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So the rich dude trashed away their full plate to use chain mail instead.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So in reallity a tank with a chain mail would be betther. But its cooler to see our main tanks using Full plate in video games <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also not a lot of poeple used sword in real war. Sword cost a lot to make and they must be made by a really good smither if you want a good one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>but every poor man could afford a lance and a wood shield. And its easy to kill someone that is using a 6foot longsword when you do have a 10foot spear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sword were mostly used for duels and competitions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The greeks won their liberty with rags cloths, cheap spears, wood shield and determination. Not with a 100lbs full plate and a 50lbs two handed sword.</DIV>

I luv my templar guardian combo. I can take ^^heroic high blues with ease. As far as killing speed... last night at guard 44 and templar 41 got 1/3 + of a level in about 3-4 hours of playing. I killed 43 ^^ heroics in splitpaw. The Nice thing about this combo is defense with buffs is so high you never die and rarely need to run. That makes up for slightly slower DPS. Most the damage to my guardian comes from my manastone hehe. <div></div>

<DIV>Guardian/priest combo should be able to take on white con and sometimes yellow con heriocs without too much trouble. While it will take you a little while to kill the encounter, it is good exp. Stay away from the "solo" mobs, even high level ones. The exp won't be nearly as good as herioc encounters.</DIV>

<DIV>In my low 40's I would kill the Nightbloods in EL with a mage friend from the guild. I made 30 % XP in just over an hour. Take on Heroics you can normally solo with a good Dps partner and you will watch XP fly. Can make 0.7 % per kill and you can kill quickly. You get more Xp solo but takes forever. Add 1 person and XP only goes down slightly (.1 or .2 % less per kill) Add a third to the group and still is decent, 4 or more and XP per kill goes down alot but you can kill alot faster. I have found Bards work pretty good as a duo partner also.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Drozan</DIV>
