Using Moonlight Mace right now but I have an ebon cluster to burn and I can never find any ebon weapons for sale on my server to compare stats. Any suggestions on what ebon weapon is best to have made for sword/shield guardian? Or is there a quest item weapon that trumps any crafted ebon weapon?

An Imbued Ebon weapon is hands down the best you can get until you start getting Fabled from raids.

Here's a link to a chart you can use to find out which Ebon Weapon can best suit your needs.

http://www.eversor.com/public/ws/t5rare.html

Keep in mind, if your going to be raiding, some mobs are immune to crush or slash, etc.

Also, wether you will be mainly off tanking or tanking. Off tank will prolly want a two hander, where mt will go with a one hander. If advise getting one handers, cause you can use them on epic mobs even if off tanking, jsut be a little less damage.

Cedar will get you a shield. (pristine imbued cedar tower shield, or go get the shiny brass shield). Also, the hierophants crook is a descent off tank crush weapon. (least until you get better, it will hit epic mobs). Screaming mace another heritage that can save you some cabbage, although the deaggro proc is a subject for debate. It will hit epic mobs.

So, I would advise a pristine imbued ebon warhammer or longsword.... You are really going to need a one hand crush and a one hand slash. So you will want one of each eventually. And when you get upgrades, keep them, for times when your raid whipes out the wazoo and ya gotta break out the backup gear...

Yes all your Heritage Quest reward weapons will hit Epics to an extent. You can main tank a raid with SSOY if you have to. I had to during my trial period :smileyvery-happy: but again you can MT a raid without a weapon even if you have to. In the long run you will want Fableds not only for stats but they really do hit Epics more.

As a Guardian you will need to keep Crushing,Slashing and Piercing 1-Handers in your inventory for fighting against mobs with different resists.

Message Edited by Nazowa on 06-28-2005 03:55 AM

are there many non-epic mobs (xp mobs) out there that have resists to slash, crush, pierce?

id have to say about 70% of mobs ARENT immune crush in the raiding world theres a few that are, but if you got crush you wouldnt have to switch weapons as much

Yup if cash is scarce best and safest bet is a crush weapon.

i pretty much just use crush on everything until i dont hit.

If you can only afford 1 rare imbued its probably best to get a crusher. be it a ebon hammer or a 1handed cedar weapon. Swords look better on your hip of course, but many epics are slash immune. I know its bummer, because who cares how well you tank if you dont look incredibly good doing it, but such is teh life of a guard.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I do remember reading that a mob will never be resistant to more then 1 type of damage. That way you would never have to get all three types of weapons, you could have slash and crush, if the mob is resistant to slash they wont be to crush and pierce and if they are to crush they wont be to slash and pierce. I don't use pierce since my skill is too low (I never kept it up) so I try to keep a slash and crush weapon with me at all times.
