View Full Version : Top 100 reasons tanks develop ulcers:

Most people don't realize that being a good tank has more to do with people management rather than aggro management. And after this "cute" post, I figured we start a list of our own. I'll start with the first few, go crazy and vent! :smileyvery-happy:

Top 100 reasons tanks develop ulcers:

DPS classes going all out just to see "what they can do".

Let the tank go in first. Trust me the furniture in the room won't move. The mob behind the corner will.

Invisibility does NOT equal invulnerability.

6 group members, but 7 different quests they need to get done.

Halfway back from a Nag run, someone says, "Hey, I forgot to hail nag."

Right after you pull, the healer says, "Hold up pulling, my dog/spouse/child/pizzaman/phone/drug dealer needs my attention for a minute" and goes afk.

Right after you pull, the healer says, " " and goes afk.

Half the group is afk, on auto follow. In lavastorm. With no invisibility. Hilarity ensues.

The bug when you type, /say "I think it's this way, follow me." Actually appears on peoples' screen as, "OMG SCATTER!"

The worst I remember is the tells for random groups "How many HP's do you have? What's your Mitigation (AC) at the time, do you have Adept taunts?..." From a wizard no less when did the day come where a caster can determine who tanks in the group.

People that insist on dropping thier biggest attack or nuke before you can fire off your 2nd taunt.

1) You are in a tight exp spot fighting an encounter and the casters in 1st person (or not looking behind them) keeps backing into other encounters that add. Of course all your taunts are still refreshing.

2) "I'll pull" says the priest.

3) "I'll pull" says the mage.

4) "I pulled in EQ1" says the scout/monk.

5) You are OOP and spam clicking your taunt button, 30 sec buff hoping you will tick back just enough.

I think my favorite is the chanter who keeps mezzing the mob I am fighting and complaining about mez being broken or a chanter who doesn't mez until right before I start attacking

Your real life friend, who happens to be a warlock, bugs you until you give him that ruby you harvested to upgrade his most powerful nuke to adept 3.

You are fast pulling with a good group, drop the last member of the existing encounter, target the next group to pull... and the warlock/wizard/ranger hits it with his highest damage attack because he is not paying attention to the fights...

Woohoo!

Mages rooting/mezzing your pull halfway during the walk back

(Yeah, they were noobs )

The enchanter in your group played an Enchanter in EQ1. he keep bugging everyoen to stop using their AoE bcuz they want to use their useless mezz spell.

Enchanter mezzes the whole pull 10 meters from group. When you ask why the answer is "I am bored and they would have hit me anyway"

Necro or Conjurer sends in the pet on incoming mobs and they get [Removed for Content] off when you avoid them like a plague in groups.

Scout waits in stealth for the pull (This is my favorite) you know that the bastid is gonna hit his biggest attack before you can even get a taunt in

The things that fill my life with joy :

Have the names of Tank alts of most of the Warlocks I leveled up with. Got a 42 Warlock all Adept 3 skills, every single one of them.

Time for revenge muhuhahaaaa

Message Edited by Nazowa on 06-28-2005 04:10 AM

Message Edited by Nazowa on 06-28-2005 04:13 AM

Scouts who use their taunting attacks and wonder why you lost aggro. They then scream for help. You tell them not to use them. They say "Well in my last group I wasn't getting aggro".

My remedy to the probleem is to let them die, after a few death they either leave the group or they understand their role in the group.

Rangers I believe get a damaging bow attack with a nasty little side effect, the next person to hit the mob after the arrow lands gets bonus agro. I mean this does take trust, consideration, and practice....but if you got it down it aint a half bad tactic, mob takes damage and you get a free taunt. Oh, and to add to the ulcer list.... Mobs that drop you from the hate list when one of them dies...and mages that think thats a really good time to drop an AOE nuke. On the other side of the coin.....things my brigand does to give tanks ulcers. 4. Taunting mobs that jump the healer 3. Stacking on too many dots and gobbling agro 2. Moving to the front of the mob to drop my high damage Ruse attack, which has the animation of a Feign death complete with sound effect. .... and the number 1 thing i do to greatly [Removed for Content] off *some* tanks...... When I do the job better than they do (yes it has happened)

Message Edited by DaranHB on 06-28-2005 01:59 PM

Dont /assist onto the mob when you ask them to because they "have two level 50 characters and know how to play the game" and "/assist is too long to type" /sigh, was SO much fun last night with that one

Since the tanks can't do it someones gotta.

when the ranger you are fighting with says he is assisting but keeps pulling agro on members of the mob you dont have tageted and then cries because hes getting beat. So then you target him to see what he has targeted and he is targeting the same mob member he is crying about!! This also applys to other classes who think they are tanks like pallys and zerkers!! Yes I know they are tanks, but not when a gaurdian is there.

Cleric Reactive heals and mage proc buffs, sure they work great but is it really neccessary to have the big bright light and the casting animations go off EVERY single time? was in some fights in the splitpaw arena, orange con wolves 3 at a time, I dont think i saw myself swing my weapon once.
