Just made level 50...I have one lonely Ruby in the bank... Which CA should it go towards?   Im assuming Deafen, Taunting Assault or Protect. <div></div>

I would get deafen first.  but I'm a lil torn atm, with the combat changes, Protect will work on Epic's so would be a toss up.

The combat changes may not be out before the expansion in september.  The way some of the devs were talking at fan faire, it came off like they are shooting for sometime after the expansion, but soon after.  Not sure it is worth it to bank a ruby <DIV>for 3-4 months till we see what the changes bring us.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Of course, they could push it to test next week and be live by the end of the month, so it is a crapshoot either way.</DIV>

<DIV>Protect would be an ok choice but mostly because the Adept 1 is so hard to find.  Most taunts are barely upgradable atm.  I would say Deafen and Vengeful strike would be a waste of the Ruby until the revamp.  Upgrading really only helps with skill buffs like Call of Protection or with damage arts.  Making adept 3 Retaliate upped my damage by abotu 100 from adept 1.  You won't get anything that noticible with taunts.  Also, its not like you won't keep agro fine with adept 1 Deafen and Vengeful Strike anyways.  </DIV>

Vengeful Strike is a T4 skill so it uses Rough Opal, not Rough Ruby.

<FONT face=Helv size=2> <P>I gathered a rough ruby last night in Feerrott - and not sure what to do with it. My first T5 rare. I am a 43 Paladin with all Fulginate armor, and some decent jewelry items and all Apprentive IV spells for my good ones. What should I do with this? Sell it and put money towards an ebon cluster for armor or weapon? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.</P></FONT>

I'd say none of the above get a pristine ruby ring of stamina or something if your rings suck don't forget those as an option also.

Your first ruby I would make into a pristine imbued ruby ring of agility. Second ruby make into a ring of stamina. Then work on your spells. You will get much more benefit from the increased mitigation and hp than you would from going from adept 1 to adept 3 on most of our Tier 5 skills.I would even recommend selling or trading your ruby for 3 opals/ruthenium and upgrading Vengeful Strike, Do or Die and Call of Protection. Again you will get much more benefit doing these first than upgrading a single spell like Protect of Deafen.Starke

Im just gonna hold on to any rubies, ebons, etc until they roll out the new game. =P  Too much of what ive read about these upcomming changes leads me to believe that spells, combat arts and armor as we know it will be totally different.  With my typical luck  any combat art I burn a ruby on will not even be in the game anymore. Its probably all for nothing...I have this feeling that the game that will exist after the changes is not the game I wanna continue playing...Just sounds too much like they are gonna turn it into EQ1 version 2. <div></div>

<DIV>You're such a pessimist Wulfgarr <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think its pretty safe to say that any of the T5 taunts will still be quite useful after the combat revamp.  Protect being the one that will gain the most value since it is already the highest and we know it will be changed to work on epics.  I would be leary of the advice to trade down and upgrade T4 stuff though - I have a feeling anything grey that remains useful will either get nerfed or get a replacement (ie. lower tier buffs will no longer stack, and abilities like Vengeful Strike or HTL will likely get T5 upgrades).</DIV>

There is more to Adept 3 taunts then simple Hate number increase. Can't prove it but its my gut feeling so I would say GO with your single taunt :smileywink:

From what my caster friends tell me, the higher "tier" a spell is the less chance for resists.  So a Master Nuke X will be resisted less than a App1 Nuke X.  Probably scales with the level of mobs..i.e better chance of hitting a mob 5 levels higher than you using a Master nuke than using a App1. Might explain why I notice much better/consistant  success using Buffs for aggro. </span><div></div>
