<DIV>My guild did frogs the other night, if you've done it you know how that goes. We got out of there about 3am, i woke up for work at 3:30am and left a few shards in zone. Next day I log in to raid, forget both shards and zone into the feerrott instance. We have 20 people, we've done it with 12 before and we got a competant Paladin so i'm not freaking. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I set the Paladin up to tank, he gets like 303 defense, he's got 3 good fabled items, and his MR is better than mine. Fight progresses, he's taking some heavy hits. Our healers all start shouting for feeds when eyes at about 20%, i'm thinking the paladin could go down at any time. Eventually when spinny is at 80% all our healers are sucking fumes and we wipe. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I step up to the plate with 6300 hp raid buffed, because of shards. I'm tired as [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot], my tanking skills are going on auto. We win the epic ez w/o our healers dropping below 75%. There was no noticable different in the the change of the raid setup that would account for me taking half the dps he did. My gear is better, but i can tank it in fulginate and still do better than he did. The only diff i can really see btwn paladin and guardian if they're in the same group is our fortified stance, and the defense factor doesn't even stack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So any ideas [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] our paladin sucks?</DIV>

Was there a noticeable difference in your avoidance and mitigation? <div></div>
Avoidance makes a huge difference in Minds if you dont have a lot of dps, it's the only raid in the game I actually care if my avoidance is 100% or not.

<DIV>Both of our avoidances were at 100%, his defense was 302 while raid tanking as was mine. My mitigation was better, both because i had the Paladin's ac while tanking and because it was 11 pieces of fabled vs 3. I know eye throws out some magic damage and his magic resistance was actually better than mine so that can't be the issue. </DIV>

100% Avoidance doesn't really tell the whole story. If you scroll over the avoidance number when it shows 100% you will see it can show much higher than that. If he was at 110% and you were at 140% that is a big difference. Even if your defense was the same buffs like agility can also factor into avoidance. I think warriors get an innate advantage in avoidance over crusaders as well. Similarly if your mitigation was 90% and his was 75% (due to gear and our buffs) that is a significant difference in damage taken per hit and would drop his hps much faster. <div></div>
11 pieces of fabled?! your server has only one guild or [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] is that? <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> our server has 8 raidguilds atm so pretty hard getting those contested mobs for uberloots.. just got serverfirst gloves from soluseks fist tho. <div></div>

<DIV>12 now, thx Hardened Metallic Adornment. We have 4 guilds capable of doing most instance runs, 3 Prismatic Equipped guilds. So we have our fair share of 3, 7, 9 am contested killings. Hell, I've sat at Lord Nagalik's spawn for hours with a full raid force next to another guild with a full raid force. Who has the last amt of afk's on spawn? Fun game.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'll have to check the Paladin again and see what exactlty the descrepencies are. I put him in today to check a few things, he was sitting at 317 defense and still taking noticably more damage. He also got some Underworld Leggin things so he's getting fairly setup on Armor. It's not something that will be an issue except in extreme cases, but tanking the same epics x40+ gets kinda boring. </DIV>
