Okay, so I am a level 22 Guardian, and have yet to fully understand this "Mitigation" and "Armor Class" concept. . . Would anyone mind explaining this to me? What should my mitigation number be so I can have 75% mit.? Another little question. . . Any recommended armor sets for levels 22-25 and 27-30?

Mitigation is how much damage you do not take froma hit. Lets say a Monster hits for 100 base damage. If you had a mitigation of 50% then you would only actually be hit for 50 damage and not 100 becasue you mitigated the rest.

Avoidance is the other type of defense. This is where you just plan do not get hit. Increased defensive skill from buffs, increased parry skill from buffs, increased agility to help you avoid the monsters attack and a good shield will all increase your avoidance.

All the items you have will have an Armor Class number which is pretty misleading. Almost all the items you wear will directly effect the midigation number you show in your personel window. Any item that has agility on it will make your avoidance go up. So both of your numbers can go up by equiping a single item. Items like your shield have a huge AC number but all of that actually goes to your avoidance number and not your mitigation.

Armor, you can do the level 20 armor quests and get that set or you can buy some priestine Carbonite vanguard armor from a Teir 3 Armor crafter. You can join the trader channel on your server and I would think find a crafter in short order. I would check the broker first though becasue that is where the competition is going to be and thus you can see the current value of those items. Just type in carbonite and you see some in the results.

If your new to the game then the armor quests give decent items, encourage you to group and meet people and show you some places in the world that you probably would have avoided if not for the quest.

There really is no such thing as AC anymore. Now there is just mitigation and avoidance.

Mitigation is how much damage is absorbed when you get hit. The restm you get hurt for. It can be raised through armor and buffs. 75% mitigation is unusual in normal experience groups, unless you are with several different classes than can buff mitigation. Occasionally you can get a solo Heroic Opportunity called Hero's Armor which raises your mitigation considerably.

Avoidance, is of course, how often the mob misses you. This can be raised through buffs, shields, and getting higher agility.

Both percent numbers are based off mobs your level.

For your second question, Armor quest armor is just fine all through your 20's, and won't cost you a dime. See Ian in Qeynos Harbor.
