View Full Version : A new ability to get 100% avoidance?
Hi guys, Im on the Guk server and noticed a guild called Ne Plus Ultra taking down Venekor in CT today. I thought it was amazing to watch and noticed that the health was not going down on their 50 Gaurdian while he was tanking that named. I inspected him and saw he had really nice fabled gear but also I noticed that he had 100% avoidance as well. IS there some bufs that are now in place to get 100% avoidance on guardians? Thats pretty sweet to be able to get that and keep that HP bar solid while in a long fight like that. cut and past into your browser for viewing pleasure http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bensanderson2005/detail?.dir=/209b&.dnm=f8e7.jpg&.src=ph http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bensanderson2005/detail?.dir=/209b&.dnm=afbd.jpg&.src=ph http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bensanderson2005/detail?.dir=/209b&.dnm=7e3f.jpg&.src=ph
<P>First of all it's not hard to get 100% avoidance as a Guardian. Our buffs, plus Bards Defense, plus Warden Duststorm will put you over the mark.</P> <P>Second, the 100% refers to regular melee damage against a level 50 opponent. Venekor is level 54, but will still do very little melee damage to a well equipped tank.</P> <P>Third Venekor does a lot of damage with his AE poison DoT, which needs to be cured fast, or it can devastate.</P> <P>Fourth, Cleric reactive heals, and possible chain healing would allow a tank to remain at 100% even though he was taking some damage.</P>

Yah if you add up all my avoidances.. i usually have like 160 or 170%.. nothing hacked or illegal about it, just how buffs stack. Also, venakor and vox melee like level 52 ++ mobs, a total joke. All they ave going for them is aoe (tho ven has more melee then vox). <div></div>

<P>Hang on a second here...</P> <P>The AGI nerf was supposed to counteract this. 100% avoidance means a mob does not hit you... at all. If what you are saying is that Guardians can somehow magically and regularly reach 100% avoidance... inquiring Monks would like to know why and how.</P>

This is achieved through a combination of raising the Defense skill and AGI. This doesn't mean they are untouchable by anything - special attacks and magic attacks will still hit, as will higher-levelled mobs, and mobs with boosted melee level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Put a Monk in the same group as a Guardian, Warden and Troub/Dirge and his persona window will also show 100% as their group buffs add so much defense-wise (and only really need 2 of the 3 to hit 100%)... That's why there are so many combat system changes going in and out of Test at the moment.</DIV>

Getting 100% avoidance is no prob...getting 90-100% mitigation is something you can brag about.

If you need a little more, swig a +mitigation potion pre-fight.</DIV>

<DIV>My husband plays a dirge, and I think I have at least semi-decent gear... a few pieces of fabled etc. To date, as a monk, I'm pretty sure I haven't yet reached 100% mitigation, but I plan to do a few tests on this. Interesting stuffs.</DIV>

<P>Warden, Dirge and Defiler in group and bam 100% avoidance.</P> <P>Also, 100% avoidance is based on an EVEN level NON-GROUP monster. I have never been called Main Tank in a fight against an even con non-grouped monster. That I call soloing.</P>

So what buffs do Troubadours and Dirges use to buff avoidance? Graceful Avoidance and Wailing Elusion? <div></div>

<P>Troubadour does :</P> <P> </P> <P>Swan song (Master 1) which is +11 défense. (and many many other combat skills)</P> <P>3 stats songs that do roughly 150 agi / str / sta. Agi is avoidance of course.</P>

I heard you can get 310 defense without using nek token, how could it be? Any trick to stack dirge and troubodar defense skill buff ? or stack guardian and zerker?

Well a troub can put up 2 def boosts if they want to lose some stats, give like 18 def alone. <div></div>

310 defense is easily attainable if you know the right buffs to use. Having the right buffs and group setups is like 1/2 the fight tho. So it's something your going to have to figure out. Highest defense i think i've gotten is 316 w/o a token. I don't remember exactly tho.
