Looking for opinions on which is a better stat to increase. if there existed a pieces of armor and all other stats were completely the same would it be better to get +10 agility, +10 stamina or even +5 stamina/+5 agility ? Im confused on what i should be maxing and how/if this will change with the new combat changes being tested.

Personally, I would focus on trying to get them both to 100 skill. So if your STA is over 100 and you AGI isn't, get some more AGI. AGI is going to increase mitigation/avoidance where as STA increases HP. Since at 100 skill (in any skill) you get 100% bonus it's good to have them all up to 100 (STR STA and AGI). After 100 you get diminishing returns. So, I'd rather go from 90 AGI to 100 AGI then say 150 STA to 160 STA. You'll see more of a difference with the AGI increasing. IMHO

The matic # to shoot for in both is 200. I fear caster mobs more than I do melee mobs in most situations, so I go for stamina before agility if both are in the same tier. It won't matter that you have 100% avoidance when a mob nukes you for 7k+, whereas hp always comes in handy.

The issue with that is if your STA is 200 you get either a 150% (what I used to think) bonus to HP or a 125% (what I hear now) bonus. Yeah, it's always nice to have extra HP but if it means my AGI is 60 to get that extra HP I might be good against caster mobs but then pooned by melee types. Everyone at 50 is gearing up to be a great raid tank but they quickly forget that great raid tanks can and usually do not make good xp tanks. (i.e. for xp I will use alot more dmg attacks then pure taunts to hold aggro, just a small example but you get the idea). We also have to remember this game is designed to go up to 200 levels. We're going to 60 in Sept. All those great raid configurations will go out the window for 10 levels when we re-become xp tanks then we'll all be raid-designed again. Wouldn't be nice if you always got an auto respec at the top levels (not that respec is that critical in this game).

Oh, yes, I realize that you would ideally like both to be at 200. We all do. However, if this guy's stats were 190 STA 190 AGI I don't think (atleast I hope not) that he would ask us which is more important. At that point, it really does not matter at all. I'd probably go STA there (just because). I was mainly speaking to lower level tanks. Shoot for that well rounded 100/100/100 mark first then max STR-STA-AGI in that order. Again, IMHO.

I am lvl47 right now and just wondering is it possible to get your stats to 200? I guess you need some Uber gear... Does anyone have 200 in any sta right now?

Currently i can get STR. STA and AGI to about 130 each just by gear and no buffs. My aim is to balance all 3 but i see people giving more importance to STA and AGI over STR.

I find my self running low on power so i am pushing STR high as possible as well just for that tiny little increase in power......

You dont have to have uber gear. At 44, unbuffed, I have:

STR 184

AGI 112

STA 119

INT 34

WIS 55

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer.vm?characterId=104488104

You see on the link I don't have any fabled gear (except for one DW Mace), my armor is all Player Crafted, non rare, and I have a few Heritage quest items. Basically, you dont have to have done a ton of raids to have good stats, you have to be selective in your gear. I wear some jewelry that is green because it gives +7 STR. I don't upgrade based soley on "ooh, this cons higher, must be better that what I have".

My STR is self buffed over 220. Frequently 260+ in a group. I don't really know what my other stats hover around off the top of my head (depends on group). Now, What you want to focus on is up to you. More DMG/Power = STR, More HP = STA, More Avoidance/% to hit = AGI. However, once your skills are over 100 you get diminishing returns. So, going from 1 to 100 STR increases DMG 1% to 100% respectively. Going from 100 to 200 STR increases DMG 100% to 150% (some say now 125%, not 150%). And over 200 you get even less benifit from the higher stat. So, you have to increase it by alot to see a little gain post 200 stat.

Also, are you prepping for raids or xp? Makes a differance. In XP most people prefer higher STR. More power and more DMG. Thus they can kill faster (mob dies faster and they have more power to continually pull). In Raids, alot of people want more STA/AGI so they live longer. They don't have to worry about power (always have power regen buffs and eventually power regen gear that you dont have sub 50/raid) and DMG is not very usfull because all they do is taunt. So you can see how a raid tank wants more Avoidance/Mitigation/HPs to increase how long he lives because DMG/Power is irrelevent.

Be carefull what you read on the boards. Alot of 50 Guards will state "this is the setup for a raid tank" and people think that's how they should set up as they level 1-49. It's not, it never will be, and you have to remeber that.

Here's my reccomendation for you. You're very close to that raid level. I assume this is what you want to do at 50. If you want to help guildies grind xp, that's different. But, if you want to raid, look for those high STA then AGI then STR items, in that order. If you want to help guildies XP the reverse the order. If you have enough $$ to have both sets/types of equipment then go for it.

To give you a baseline my Guard is well set up for xp and Raid. However, It is not the "min/max" idea of a raid tank and probably never will be. I know the levels are going to keep going up so I'll keep my eye on having a good XP tank setup and worry about raiding equipment when I have extra cash.

For getting most out of the agi and sta keep in mind that there is first soft cap at 100 where agility boost to avoidance goes from 0.11%/agi to 0.011%/agi or so. So in that sense you could aim hitting agi to 100 and after that always choose sta over agi. Allthough coming combat change where agi will reduce damage things might change but might take a while before combat changes hit live.
