I am currently level 44 and still using Oak Tower Shield.  Its green to me atm.  Ive been looking for an upgrade but short of 5+pp for Aegis or Woe  or 2pp for Cedar i dont see much available. I am not in a raiding guild and have perhaps 20gp to my name atm so those 3 are out of the quest.  I might get lucky on harvesting a Cedar but im not holding my breath. SBS looks decent but ive tried for about 3weeks to get in on a open DFC raid w/o any luck. Are there any regular dropped/quested(2-3 people) shields that have better shield factor than my Oak(670ish) does at level 44? <div></div>

Cedar is that expensive for you?  I recently had a cedar tower made and all told, I think I dropped 55g for the materials and combine fees.  I think the SF on my cedar at 44 is around 750.  This was my first real level 50ish upgrade and I figured it was hard to beat the effectiveness for the price - especially compared to something like ebon. <div></div>

I havent really priced having a Cedar made...but when I do see Cedar Shield for sale they are usually avg around 1.5pp.   For comparison the few times ive seen Ebon armor sold its usually 3pp+.  The Aegis and Woe shield are anywhere between 5pp and  12pp depending on the time of day, etc.  This is of course on Unrest. Course even at 55g it would be like 2x the money I have.  I havent had much luck finding decent money making spots where I could solo or duo.  Maybe its just me but the ratio of "expense" -vs- "income" for T5 sure does seem to be many times more expensive than it was for prior teirs.  I was able to afford all feysteel and oak items w/o much work.   Could be im just experiencing whats to be expected not being in a raid guild and not being a hardcore player. <div></div>

<div></div>i got a cedar shield from "spofford" on unrest for like 1p a couple of weeks ago. I've seen him selling them as low as 80g this week. Sure your not looking at the broker 20% markup on that? You know to go directly to seller for things this expensive right? I saved for 3 levels (39-42), and sold a rare linen for 40g to finance mine. <div></div><p>Message Edited by tsaavik on <span class=date_text>05-02-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:56 PM</span>

Thanks, Im gonna see how much I can save up during this week while at the same giving getting in on a DFC raid another shot.  Ill be well into level 45 by the end of the week so new shield will be a top priority.  Would much rather get the SBS since its "free".  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Just wish there were other options besides rare crafted or heritage quest <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> And yeah I always try to contact crafters directly when having rare stuff crafted.  <div></div>
