<DIV>I have been mentoring my wife's cleric to duo with my guard.  Well, she got bored and made a mage who became a sorcerer.  We have been duoing the two and I gotta say...Stuff...dies...fast.  Even group mobs.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Last night I took her to TS and we took on the gnolls in the pit that I had been doing in a 3 or more group.  They died so fast, I didnt have time to get hurt.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tonight, her sorcerer is becoming a wizard.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Am I in trouble? Can we burn stuff down fast enough later to make up for not having a healer?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Will I ever hear the end of 'WOW, did you see that nuke?'</DIV>

<DIV>  Not a mistake, you should do whatever is fun for both you and your wife. Play whatever classes you excel at. This is a huge, social game. If you need a healer you can find one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>  Now that being said. Later on as you level up you will not be able to duo the hard stuff with a guard and a wiz. But, you will be able to duo, and duo just fine. The higher in level you go, the more a group becomes required for anything. IE the best experience / time, the best loot etc. Now there are obviously exceptions to the rule, but for the most part this is true.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>   Just focus on fun and your goals. Because this is a multi player on line game, you will never be without.</DIV>

One of the things I find most fun about EQ2 is the odd duo combos that can effectively do things.  Its also the one thing I fear the proposed changes to combat will destroy <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. I sometimes find myself Duoing witha coercer friend.  Its interesting to say the least but its also very fun.  I say if you and your wife are having fun then go for it.  Like others have said there will be things you cant do w/o a healer but healers are a dime a dozen and there are 6 healer types to choose from and honestly as a guardian against most group encounters any of them is overkill in terms of healing..  I say go with what you have...have fun and grab a healer when you need them. <div></div>

I have a alt coercer account that I play on my alt computer and I usually duo with a zerk budy of mine.  With adept3 bravado and the adept3 stackable breeze and refresh,,,,, needless to say, we lay some serious spank.  Of course that is until SOE nerfs the stacking power regen spells.

I often grouped with an illusionist. Now that's a weird combo, lowest DPS tank, and lowest DPS mage teaming. But we made it work, and could handle blue two up heroics easily till our late 40's.

most combos work. you can duo effectively to 50.  dont expect to be able to take on every named or yellow+ con mobs with a guardian/wizard duo though.  some you'll be able to handle, some you won't.  to expand your survivability on challenging content you'll still need a priest.  but you'll get to 50 much quicker as a wizard/guadian duo I'm sure. the most important thing is having fun. <div></div>

I still regularly duo with my wife's wizzy at lv 35. It works well, just have to be careful what we fight. As long as we avoid heavy caster mobs, which hurt me very badly, we have a lot of fun. <div></div>

I love duoing with a guildee, a Sorc. For instance we can take on group mobs of 3 or 4 easy. My biggest challenge is the aggro control. With nukes over 400 it's hard to keep it <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Usually what we do is, get the sorc to root the biggest dps of the mob, the taunt AE and kill the smaller ones. The big guy will come to me and not fly and kill the sorc, and we have time to kill the smaller ones. It's fun, and watching my hp's slowly go back is exciting. Sometimes it's even more fun than with a healer where u know you'll be safe and just have to watch the healer's manna.

Toss in a couple group buffs inbetween you AE taunt.  You will be fine.

<DIV>Mentoring is unbalanced at the moment (to your favor) but as you approach your true lvl, things will get a bit more challenging.  Finding a priest(s) that is on regularly could take you 3 all the way to 50 no problem.</DIV>
