<DIV><FONT size=3>I was looking at getting a number of my App 4's made for some upcoming skills and a guildmate told me:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3>To not upgrade Entrench because, "<FONT color=#3333ff>its a GREAT pulling skill that will slow down the mob but it will buff his mitigation as well. at the higher levels of the skill its slows a tad more but also increases his mitigation more</FONT>"</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3>Does the mitigation buff you give the mob outweigh the slowness you put on it?</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>Well it does if you are attakcing it all out melee. That mitigation buff to the mob can kick you in the teeth. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However it is great for pulling or if you are caster heavy/magic dps then it's not somethign to worry about too much. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also on raids it is a nice tool for the MT. This of course mean less dmg done to the main mob before all the others drop how ever if the adds/extras are being killed first then entrenching the main mob is a definet plus.  That being the slower the mob is hitting the MT the less dmg it is doing, etc.. you get the picture. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Right now I have entrench App4 and unless I get it as a drop I am not going to upgrade the skill any more for the price people want. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I hope that helps. </DIV>

<DIV>I use Anchor (Entrench's upgrade) pretty constantly as my pulling and CC tool.  Pull a group with it, and kill everything except the entrenched monster, then cancel Entrench and kill that last one too.  While you're working your way down the list that one monster has been nicely slowed and so it doesn't hurt you a whole lot while you're attending to business on it's compadres.  The fact that its physical mitigation is grotesquely enhanced doesn't mean diddly if you kill all of its friends and then cancel the buff before attempting to melee it down.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Think of Entrench in two ways:</DIV> <DIV>1.  Long range pulling skill.</DIV> <DIV>2.  Guardian CC.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I regularly use entrench to pull because it has long range.  Its true it increases the mitigation of the mob.  So if you plan to kill it with sticks then you dont want to be hitting on the mob while that effect is in place.  I have not tried it but Mastik's post about using it if you plan to mostly kill the mob with spells makes good sense too. If I am pulling a multi-mob group then I target and pull mob A and switch my target to mob B as they are closing.  Then I try to kill mob A last.  If we kill a mob and move to Mob A or I lose track of which mob is which and move to a new target that might be Mob A then I drop entrench. If I am pulling a single mob I frequently use entrench to pull.  In that case I cancel the spell after encounter starts and hopefully before we start hitting him.  In that case its just a nice long range pulling skill. Dont forget entench is upgraded by anchor later.  Thats a good reason not to go out of your way to upgrade it. In the interests of full disclosure, I do have it at App4.  But that is because I have a friend who ugrades everythng for me.  I wouldn't mind if it was not upgraded. Cheers, wei <div></div>

Beyond being  a really good pulling ability ive found Entrench to have many situational uses.  Most of which have been already stated.  In a melee-lite group (in most of my groups I am the ONLY melee) Entrench is very handy. <div></div>
