im really picky about armor and always like to have a full set of the same thing. but i don't like the pc stuff because the stats are stupid. i dont know about you guys, but i dont need a helm to give me int/wis. right now i'm in a set of orcmaurader (sta bonus on EVERY piece), but i know it won't last me until 40. any ideas what i can upgrade into? and where would i get this? <div></div>

<DIV>It's not just player crafted stuff that has fixed stats per piece. Most equipment in the game has stats based on slot. For example, almost all chest pieces give +str, +agi, almost all shields give +int/+wis. This goes for both dropped and crafted, rare and uncommon.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The pieces of equipment that break this trend are few and far between.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That having been said, I think I've seen "Sootfoot Forged" armor in tier 5 that has +sta on it for most pieces, and I saw a "Magma Forged Cuirass" that had +wis.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally, I'd warn against putting all your eggs in one basket when it comes to stats. How much agility and strength are you giving up by going with a full set of armor that gives only +sta? What about resists? Are the resists spread out evenly or are you piling a lot on one mitigation while negelecting another? I don't know, I haven't looked too closely at them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also remember that there is a "soft-cap" on most stats where you reach a point of greatly diminishing returns for boosting it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've worn a full set of Feysteel Vanguard since level 30 and it is terrific.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ayeone</DIV> <DIV>37 Guardian/45 Jeweler</DIV> <DIV>Freeport, Befallen</DIV>

That's true in regards to fixed stats unless you find a lot of fabled gear or heritage items, the big stamina slots are shoulders, feet, wrists, rings, and ears. You can pop some heritage or other items in for stam for example lots of weapons have it like the bloodfire and moonsoon/swiftwind sword, prismatics do as well. For the helm you can use the crown of king tranix but one that quest is pure hell and two the Mitigation isn't too great so if your willing to sac some mitigation for increased stamina then go for it, the shield i've seen with stamina is the shiny brass shield and you can get a kite version if your picky enough. The master chest off the group x2 drakota can drop a fabled plate BP I believe has stamina on it. But honestly if your worried about look/stats I'd go against what your saying but the best set of matching armor would probably just be keeping it simple and going with the Ebon stuff and if that's out of price range the rubicite has the same graphic so you can sub items there.

<div></div>My best advice is that you are not a fashion model on a runway. You are a tank. It is your job to tank, not look pretty. If you can look pretty WHILE tanking great, but looking pretty shouldn't be the first concern of a serious tank. I rate the worth of a piece of armor by it's AC, the amount of Stamina, Agility, and Strength (in that order personally) that it offers, and then health/power/resists. Those fights that are so close but you die... if you weren't trying to be so dang beautiful would you have made it? Those fights when you've done the best you can with your armor and you die anyway? Well, at least you had the right gear for the job. Take comfort in that and work on the strategy some more. Or you could always sacrifice someone beautiful to the random number generator gods and hope they give you better luck next time. In your tier, the best items do not match an overall scheme or style. Some items come close, and with the right drops you can sacrifice a little bit to maintain a look. I'll spend half of my 30s mismatched. I don't like it, but I will. Eventually we all will be able to have matching looks and great stats but you shouldn't let vanity get in the way of doing the job good and proper. I think it was a waste of cash but the best suit all-matching so far I've seen on a 30s toon was a fully imbued, rare metal player made suit on a paladin. He must have had cash to burn. Maybe it was the money he saved on his free horse? <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> The silvril armor has the same look as the stuff that pally had. Other pieces that have the same look that I've used have been Boots of Sorrow, Guardian's Gauntlets, another piece was Darkened something, and a Tallon piece. I used the mismatched Orc Marauder spaulders for their decent stats but other items surpassed their ac in a few levels. I guess that's another plus to pc made stuff... it cons longer. The dropped stuff cons out pretty quick. Even then though, it has the better stats. <div></div><p>Message Edited by countjackula on <span class=date_text>04-24-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:42 AM</span>
