<P>The only defense that a guardian ever gets against magic that I know of is Uthros' Defiant Cry, the 10th level training upgrade to Call to Arms, which gives +4 spell avoidance. This makes some difference, especially against lower level mobs that are kind of borderline in their ability to land spells on you.</P> <P>There is also an earring called Zig's Wing that drops from Zig in the second level of the main Bloodline Chronicles zone that gives another +2 spell avoidance.</P>

<DIV>Mouse over your resists and it will tell you how much you mitigate of a specific magic type.  Then look at your spell avoidance.  Compare that to your Mitigation from armor and your Defense skill.  It will be pretty clear that you have the advantage on Melee mobs.   If you want to target mage type mobs, see what type of resist you might need to bump up and sniff around on the broker for some jewlry to help out.  I swap out gear all the time vs caster mobs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>I see what you guys are saying. </P> <P> </P> <P>slightly back to my original question, does having high Int and Wis help with spell avoidance? Or only the resists matters when it comes to spells?</P>

<P>One way you can try fighting them is this...use concussion as your first attack, as it drains power.  Then, use your DoT (I have strongbears, so I use that).  Then, unload your other damage attacks and HO like crazy, making sure to put concussion back on as soon as it recycles.  Unless the enemy mob puts 3 DoTs on you (I hate when that happens...) then you should survive...if it is your level.</P> <P> </P> <P>Know what I also hate, enemy casters can cast while running.  A little unbalanced, no?  :robottongue:</P>

<DIV>In beta, Moorgard told us that wisdom helped with spell resist, not sure if it counts towards mitigation or avoidance.  However. I've never heard of anyone testing/parsing it, and Moorgard is notoriously ill informed about how the mechanics actually work (he is a PR guy, not a programmer).  I think I recall Patherpancheli saying the same thing, and he is a programmer and his posts are usually dead on the money, if a bit cryptic.  I can't swear to the Pather post though.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone have a parser and a friend that can buff wis?</DIV>

Most magic using mobs are squishy. Use your stuns, knockdowns and stifles, have the power drainer in your group go to town and take them down quick. Also be prepared against mobs that use nil distortion. A green or blue mob with that spell can drop you or your group mates really quick. I've seen a green mob nuke for over 3k with just that one spell.
