I used a Icen Guard ??? forgot the rest but I'm sure there not that expensive this will hold you over until you either get your hands on an ebon cluster and make a imbued one handed sword OR complete sactum of fear and get the bloodfire (not sure when you can equip that they changed the level recently).

I wouldnt invest alot of resources in a weapon at this stage of the game. I think there is a descent axe you can get from everfrost for a fairly easy quest to tide you over...

Basically, you want something descent to hold you over until you get a imbued ebon weapon or you finish the heart of fear quest in CT. I got stuck using some purple wand for a few levels, which I dubbed the "wand of froo froo".

I got it from CT doing something, and it was a very good weapon, and I couldnt find anything better to replace it for several levels..

Whatever you do, dont loot the wand of froo froo... Dont even look at the starts to avoid temptation, or youll be stuck running aorund with a purple headed adult looking toy for several levels...

BEWARE

Message Edited by uglak on 04-15-2005 12:30 PM

PGT is polished granite axe, reward from the "An Axe from the past" heritage quest. It's a DW weapon but has a sweet proc.

Oh an axe ok. Yeah i was searching broker last nite for weapons, obviously no Ebon made ones, goes the same for armor, no ebon. But it looked the Axe versions of weapons compared to swords of the same type are alot better. I believe they were the imbued pristine fulginate versions. That Axe looked pretty good, but ill have to see if i switch to axes, i really like swords

FYI on the "imbued pristine fulginate versions" there are a lot of mobs they CANT hit and not just epic mobs, I have ran accross 1 group mobs that cant be hit with them so beware and not talking about high end mobs, lvl 39 and up from what I have ran into myself.

Its very hard to find a good 1hs at that lvl, I still dont have one and I carry 3 1hs, SoT, GB and the Langseax. I dont find it to be a huge problem because when I go to shield and 1h, my dps is not that improtant so the weapon makes little difference.

On a side note I carry all 3 because when I mentor down the best dps (which one I use) depends on the lvl I mentor to, sometimes the GB is best and some thimes the SoT is. They all have the same graphic.

edit:

GET your PGT, its the best weapon period for your lvl, there are times on x2 + mobs I will use my PGt just for the proc, 560hp ward, 250 power and 18 str, on a long fight its a God send to get a few procs.

Message Edited by Rodney on 04-17-2005 10:46 AM

Ok i found a site that has info on quests and heritages, ill start that axe from the past. Right now have Ghoulbane, Pristine Imbue Fulginate Assault Axe and SBH from the heritage.

I also got to meet someone who has the fire sword? Looks like a Ghoulbane but in red, it has AWESOME stats. Cant use it till 49 i think anyways, but i think that or the prismatic swords will be my final weapons.

You want to have a piercer and slasher on hand at all times at higher levels to swap out against high resistance mobs. I would bet its mentioned plenty in this forum. I believe the idea that there are mobs are resistant to ALL player made weapons is false. If someone has actaully found a mob that they have used piercing & slashing player made weapons that were not able to do damage then used a non-player made weapon of the same type that was ive never seen it posted.

So the correct answer to this question would be PGT (power proc) with a Fulg or Ebon rare cluster piercer weapon in your bag or an SBD (if you can use it). Nice thing about a PGT is that you can swap a sheild in and out with your 2nd weapon during combat a lot easier too being a DW.

The two common weapons im aware of that I cannot match with any player made weapon (unless perhaps the lavastorm forge thing pans out) are the PGT and the SBD from the HQ's and of course the prismatics. Outside of those weapons a proc'ing rare cluster player made weapon works out pretty good over the competition.

Message Edited by SilvanEQ2 on 04-18-2005 04:59 PM

I agree that monsters can be immune to not only damage types (slash, bludge, pierce) but also specific weapons...even at lower lvls. For example: when my Guardian was only lvl 14, hunting oakmyst, I tried an oakmyst spirit (lvl 11, at the time heroic encs), using an iron longsword (store bought crap) and shield. He was immune to the weapon, so I tried my 2H axe (some kind of n00b quest, can't remember what weapon it was). It did full damage to him and I killed it. Both the sword and the axe were slashing damage...but the POS sword wouldn't hurt it, where as the 2H quest axe worked fine. So...anyway, there is my point.

There are several factors. One has to do with the con of the weapon, I believe it has to be at least blue to work on some mobs. Also some mobs can only be hit by legendary or better weapons.

I suggest Scaled Scimitar, Ancient Combine Longsword, Hardened Metallic Hammer, or Defrauder's Dirk

Don't forget, some mobs can only be hit by magical weapons. So I hear anyway, I have one of each type of weapon in my inventory. Minus piercing but.......

Oh, though my SM wasn't doing any damage to Drayek, I still managed to get a proc out of it. Maybed because of my combat spells were hitting him, just not the blunt damage portion. Interesting though. So swapped out with an ebon axe when I had power, then moved back to SM to get the proc when semi low on power.
