Just wondered what this means plz... getting a bit confused. e.g. on buffs, Return to Battle has max AOI targets 8, commanding prescence has 5. Topple, ae attack, for example has a max AOI targets of 5 and only seems to hit 5 targets. So I'd assume this is how many mobs the buffs have an effect on aggrowise? But seems a little stupid that a buff would anger some mobs but not others... Would be nice if someone could explain plz, I couldn't find info anywhere else :smileyhappy: And I suppose there's no way to increase the amount of AOI targets by buff lvl etc?

I think those numbers refer to RANGE (radius) not number of targets. i.e when you cast Return to Battle only group members within 8 <range units> radius of you get it. when you use Topple only mobs within 5 <range units> radius of you get hit.

says AOI targets, that still just refers to the range of targets? also topple seemed to me to have a tiny range compared to most buffs, not similar, but I will check it later (could just be me) thanks

Message Edited by Feldorm on 04-13-2005 07:56 AM

No, it means number of targets hit (at least for Topple). Topple hits 5 mobs only, with an 'additional' tick of dot damage on the primary target.

Well surely it must mean the same for buffs and AE attacks? If it does neither explanation works imo. Range - I don't think it means range as topple seems to have a tiny range to me, compared to buffs. Single target buffs also do not have a max AOI targets, and they surely must have one if group buffs do and it does mean range. Smothering cry has a value of 20 and my smothering cry at least does not have a huge range :smileyhappy: Amount of targets - only logic I can see tells me that it has something to do with the amount of targets which the buffs affect. I don't think it means amount of group members it affects cos a group buff always affects up to 6 group members afaik and these buffs got ranges from 5-8. So I'm left with the amount of mobs that it affects but again this seems stupid that a buff would affect only the first X amount of mobs. /boggle SOE has always had stupid ways of phrasing simple concepts. Hell they cant even get the concept of Armor Class correct =P lol gotta agree on that tho

Message Edited by Feldorm on 04-13-2005 08:40 AM

I thought AOI was "Area of Influence"?

Khaler wrote:I thought AOI was "Area of Influence"?

Thats what AOI stands for in normal english but who knows what it means in SOE terms. Area of Influence would imply some type of range or volume but we dont seem to be able to verify if these numbers are range or targets. Topple being short range does make sense... Some of our attacks/specials have a very very short range compared to others. If the number is # of targets effected then the numbers on the Buffs dont make any sense...5-8? Im pretty sure my group buffs effect all group members (1-6) assuming they are in "range".

Now unless SoE are planning on letting us have 8 - 9 people groups i doubt this is right. Too me, like Rafeal said, its the distance of effect that people can be from you when you cast it. Some of my group buffs even have 5 on them, whats this mean, that one person miss's out even though its classed as a group buff?

Perhaps it means Area of Influence. Therein relating to the area of effectiveness, not total targets.

IE AoI of 8 targets, means targets have to be within 8 Meters?? I don't know...trying to think outside the box and read the minds of SoE at 330 am is a PITA.

Hmm to add a bit more info, Desperate Rush (our self haste) has a "Max aoi of 6" and "Effect Radius 25 meters" so explain this for a self haste. I have ask other members of my group and they dont see the haste icon.
