We are working right now on significant changes to the combat system to address the fact that you can sometimes be invulnerable to attack. As I've noted before, this isn't only at level 50, but is possible at every level of the game. And yes, there will be practical limits on how much you can avoid and mitigate attacks.

The goal is that the game plays pretty much the same for soloers and groups, but presents a worthy level of challenge on more powerful targets. Come on, is it really fun or challenging to be able to avoid damage from a mob you're standing right in front of?

These changes are fundamental ones that affect the game as a whole. And defense can't be considered alone; we are looking at damage output and healing in conjunction with this as well. Because it is so crucial, we aren't going to rush the process. If it makes it into Live Update #7, fantastic, but if we don't feel it's ready to go we will hold it back until LU #8.

It is at least encouraging that they realize that this is a massive change that will have wide spread ramifications. It will be interesting to see what they come up with - I have a feeling it is going to involve tweaks to pretty much every class.

I Fear Change!

While I applaud their awareness of how crucial these changes are going to be, I would rather not be treated like a mushroom. (Kept in the dark, fed s**t).

People with level 50 characters have put time and effort into equipping their characters and I would like to see what their plans are instead of a carrot dangled in front of me.

Either put this change in LU#7 or failing that, have a very detailed post of what they are planning. I don't want to wait 2-3 months for a change I might completely disagree with.

Scary to say, but this reminds me of the SWG combat revamp that was promised a few months after release. Once they discovered how major of a deal it was, they kept delaying it and delaying it. Now almost 2 years later, they finally have a workable version of the new combat system on the test server. Of course, the EQ2 system is in a much better state compared to SWG was, but this is still going to have a far reaching impact on the game and will take quite a bit of work for them to get done.

SWG combat revamp = EQ2 combat.

That's probably why it took so long
