Shields, neccessary or not

Are shields essential? Or do you picture guardians as 2 handed weps and dual wielders? I'm of the mindset that a guardian without a shield is like a house without walls. The dual wiled and 2hand theme looks more like a berserker's choice to me. Cosmetically, yeah play what you want (saw a gnome guardian the other day,) but the flipside is if you're suppsoed to be a meat-shield, it would make sense to have as much armor as possible. Heck, the word itself has shield in it. Plus, the hallmark item you get is a shield too, that is good even even 10 levels up.

depends.  for soloing or duoing, i dual wield for the dps.  in groups, it depends on the mob.  the yard trash gets the dual wield, tough mobs get the shield.  I keep an eye on the healer power.  If he gets lower that me, i know it's time to pop out the cofee table

<P>Duetting/Soloing I usually fight blues and greens in droves and go with my trusty SSoY / SBD combo.   When main tank and fighting named mobs, I always ALWAYS carry a shield.   The benefits are extremely noticable.</P> <P> </P>

Any guardian, male or female should not be using a stick to beat on mobs...i don't care how ubah it is. It's just wrong! Spend the money and get your claymore done!
