Currently I duo with a mystic, but a lot of people are telling me that if I had a templar friend it would be much easier while duoing. We are both still young and he is willing to start over, but he really likes the mystic, can mystic keep up with the heals at level 40+?

My alt is a Guardian who duos with a mystic..and has no trouble. We are both 25, however. I would be interested to know this as well, as I LOVE how the two classes work together. Wards keep you from getting hit (or hit hard) and the heals are good when you do..I hope that this continues throughout their career.

I like being a druid healer and have found that I really like tanking for a druid healer...but have never played with a cleric-type. So..watching this thread with interest, as well.

1-50 i levelled grouping (not duoing) with my Defiler friend (hi Krises!), a healer type that is quite similar to a Mystic, they both use wards as their specific healing type.

There are many reasons why a Mystic-Guardian duo is not really efficent, if you plan on levelling 1-50 duoing, i suggest you to pick different classes.

First of all, the damage output of the Guardian is not enough, all the fights above a certain lvl will last too much, you will simply lack the dps and you will both risk to run out of power.

Second, the Guardian is supposed to be mitigation type tank, this means that a Guardian is supposed to get hit quite often but for less damage.

The Mystic base his healing power on wards, a type of heal that prevent damage when the target get hit.

Since a Guardian will get hit often, wards will not last long, especially at higher levels, and the Mystic will have to often use direct type heals, spending more power healing the tank than damaging the mob.

An avoidance type tank (ie Bruiser-Monk) would work much better with a Mystic-Defiler, since they don't get hit as often as a Guardian wards will last longer and will be there to prevent damage when needed, plus their dps is much higher than that of a Guardian so all the fights will be shorter.

If you don't like the brawler type tank, you should get a more offensive tank, like a Berserker, but you should also change the type of healer, a cleric type is good, since reactive heals works when the target get hit, or pick a druid to try a more offensive duo.

This is only my opinion, so i could be wrong :smileywink:

Lastly, with live update #7, that will be out in 2 weeks or so, we will see some changes in the way the various type of heals work and how tank's defense work, so what is valid now could not be valid in the future.

Kairoth Zzoguardi

Officer of Orcus Dei Ordo

odo.eqiiguids.com

If you want things dead faster - Fury hands down is best (and invis owns).

If you need more healing - Templar/ Warden

I lvl'd with a Mystic thru all my levels (/hug Mystique) and while slow, hps, ac, stat increases are great - they need some serious love in the healing dept. I would say the mystic class is 50% worse than the Temp/Warden in healing. Yes, there are wards but the 50% is more of an overall health / combat percentage.

What really takes the cake is if the healer is good looking or not

I'm not sure how much looks help (unless you buddy is also a mezzer) but what matter the most is really understanding the class, keeping up with adepts/equipment and having fun.... the healing classes are fairly well balanced and who knows what tomorrow's update will bring. If you guys are having trouble my suggestion is to take a good look at your equipement and spells... maybe there is something you can upgrade that will help? Good Journeys to you both! <3 Essa

I'm on the wrong pc so my signature is probably not up to date. I two-boxed from 6 to 50 (most of the time) as Guardian/Mystic without any issues. Just don't ward unless it's absolutely necessary. Haze any mobs that pose a risk. Get your mystic meleeing on the back of mobs - with the divine proc and maul proc they can actually do some decent damage for no power cost.

Message Edited by Sarelin on 04-24-2005 07:50 AM

I currently duo with a wizard, no healing at all... I have since we started and will through 50 (I am married to her , can't exactly ditch her). That said, I think you can efficiently duo with most any class. It might not be the most efficient, but it can be done, and enjoyed. I would say play what you want to play. With a pure healer, things can take a long time to kill, but it is quite likely that you can succeed most reasonable battles. With a pure DPS, things go down fast, but there are some mobs that are just difficult to kill (mainly castors). Still they are not difficultto avoid. Anywhere in the middle and you should have a nice balance.Beasley
