I'd buy it for 8p maybe ;p Same ac as my shield, but haste is cool.. not terribly good when maintanking tho.

When a rippo is 2k damage, you want to swing as little as possible to maintain aggro.

wouldn;t haste help with Hold The Line?  I mean if you hit faster, then you have more chances to do the random taunting with HTL?  just my 2 cents.

Since our job is to stay alive as long as possible and absorb damage, this makes perfect sense. Unlike EQ1 our ability to hold aggro isn't dependent on how much damage we can output and our taunts continue to have use after we're on top. So a slow swinging weapon on raids is a must.

Personally I would always rather have 5% more haste so the damage dealers can do more damage before pulling off me and mobs die slightly faster.Can't say I can ever remember dieing to a riposte. If I am really worried about it (only example I can think of is on the pull) I can just turn off attack entirely.

<P>I thought about Riposte before I replied.   I just don't see how the mob is going to riposte so much that it becomes an issue.   Your hate *IS* predicated on damage and taunt, so by refusing haste you are less effective than a Guardian who does have it, as far as hate generation is concerned.   When I get 50th I'll have to run some tests either way to see if haste is a boon or a bane on major events.   Until then, I can't compare, as I haven't tanked anything of significance yet.</P> <P> </P>

I speak about raids not grinds. Haste is great on grinds, but you are better off to 2hand on grinds anyway 90% of the time. When maintanking rippos are often 1-2k+ and they REALLY add up.. anything you can do to reduce them makes your life easier.And no, hold the line is a MELEE proc not a defensive proc.

Shrug I got monsoon, its good enough and beats sbd + whatever for me, so I run with it. At lower levels I did shield or DW mostly for the stats, but once you can have a 2 hander and over 8000 ac on a grind shields are excessive. I grind with a lot of haste buffs so 2h works out best for me, but your mileage may vary.

<P>I agree with Tuna on this one. Mainly because DPS isnt our role. I generally dont like anything that we have that soley increases our dps such as our Haste skills. Haste on the shield simply means you can get a higher damage, slower 1h weapon and still maintain plenty of aggro .. On a raid mob , true, you want to hit slow so the rippo dont kill ya .. but in an xp grind group .. haste is nice if your the MT (which why else wouldnt you be lol) <div></div>

We also found a shield like this called Interdimensional Guard Wierd stats, almost like the one posted here. More AC, 20% haste.  I know of one that has like 18 STR on it too...that one is ideal. <div></div>
