I'm new to the guardian community. After spending 36 levels as a Defiler I wanted a chance to wear some real armor! Anyway, I wanted to ask a couple questions.1) Do group buffs generate agro the same as defiler buffs? In other words if I use them before a pull there is no agro (which is a waste).2) Do the grant avoidance arts gain the guardian agro? When is this agro generated? When the guardian successfully defends the ally? That's it for now! ThanksThought I would add this one as well: Do you insist that your groups use /assist?<p>Message Edited by terzaghi on <span class=date_text>03-16-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:20 AM</span>

Most times they generate more hate than your actual taunt skills.</DIV> <DIV>2) Don't think they do.</DIV> <DIV>3) I haven't insisted that they do. Though I usually ask them to. This way group mobs tend to stay on me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Couple suggestions:</DIV> <DIV>1) When in a group, I usually tell the group to wait till I gsay "Nuke away" before they unleash their DPS. I typically hit the mob(s) with my group taunt and use 2-3 of my group buffs before I send the Nuke Away. This seems to work well. Most often what I've done before they nuke is good enough to keep aggro. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2) When in a group, I rarely use my special attack skills. I auto attack and constantly spam my taunts/buffs. This ensures I have a decent amount of power left in case a mob splits off onto someone else.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3) I hardly ever use Hold the Line anymore. The main reason for this is that it seems to eat up alot of my power and in the longer battles runs me out of power.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good Luck</DIV>

If you find yourself in a long battle, running out of power with lots of mobs left and shaky aggro, HTL will save your butts. Remember, HTL will still fire even when you are out of power.

Regarding your second question, yes, avoidance arts do generate aggro. If I cast an avoidance art on the primary mob target within the first 10 percent of its health, the mob will immediately turn to me regardless of whether I have swung my weapon or tried any other taunt. It's not super aggro, but it almost makes it worth casting if you lose aggro during the fight. I have not seen any evidence of it generating additional aggro after the initial cast (when avoidance occurs) but that is a little hard to accurately test.<BR>

The more a buff does, the more aggro is generated. Moorgard made a post somewhere, but I have lost it. Anyways, the 40 second line of buffs generate the most hate.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> 2) Yes. Initially; as far as I can tell, there is no aggro generated on a successful defense of an ally. Even if there is, it is minimal, and there are much more efficient ways to generate aggro. If you are concerned as an off tank about stealing aggro, like anyone else in the group, buff out of fights.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> Last thing. No, I NEVER have anyone use assist or implied targetting with me. I pull based on whatever mob is easiest / best to target for pull, be it for proxy, or LOS, or using the entrench line on named or whatever the reason may be. I will explain to a MA which mobs to target if they do not know, but most people that I group with choose the targets in the correct order based on group make up. This allows me to switch targets at ease and still have mobs dying as fast as possible since no one is following me around (in terms of targetted mob). </DIV>

<DIV>I agree I only want my groups using an assist hotkey to get targted on my first mob then my next when it dies becuase I two will cycle through mobs esp. If we get adds to maintain agro on myself while my group offs my first target.</DIV>
