<DIV>Indeed, it started out well...I was in pursuit of my fourth armor quest and was able to acquire the services of a templar (a rarity in and of itself).  I was able to add a mage, ranger, and two paladins for the extra dps necessary to quickly eliminate the mob targets required of the quest.  All seemed to be in order.  They all acquiensced to my lead...seeming to follow my lines of reasoning and prompts...seemingly....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It started innocently enough.  A call by the Mage..."hey dudes, I gots to go pick up my bro from work...it will only take about five minutes...no more than 20...do you mind if I stay in group while I do this real quick?"  I think, sure, why not?  I mean...as long as we have the Templar for heals, we can handle the dps pretty easily...so, I says, "sure dude...be expeditious about it."  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then, of course, the Ranger goes LD and one of the Pallys needs to book.  No problem, I am thinking...the Ranger comes back...we still got enough DPS to do these things...no loss on the pally...plus, the Mage will be back in a few minutes...no problem.  However, while handling these minor irritants...the other Pally has decided to wander around a bit...even after the prerequisite asking of not to...and of course....aggro.  Now, the Ranger is LD, the Mage is AFK and the other Pally has booked.  It still should be ok...we got the Templar after all...so, the Pally starts swinging, I pull in and start to hammer...hoping the Ranger will pop back in some time soon and the Mage will return...and my health bar begins to decline quite rapidly...a quick /g "dudeman...you gonna toss a heal my way?"...no response...of course, the other Pally has managed to drag another mob into the process and now things are beginning to look a bit worrisome...another /g "DUDEMAN...you gots a heal coming our way anytime soon?"...no response...the long and short...DEATH.  DEATH to me, the Pally who'd aggroed and the afk Mage and the non-responsive Templar.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, after 30 minutes putting the group together...the 20 minutes getting everyone into place and ready to go to work...the time spent "waiting" on peeps...the errant aggro...and I have spent an hour and a half to kill ONE mob.  ONE>>>ONE>>>ONE!!!!  But, oh no...I waited another 15 minutes to see if the cleric would ever respond for/give revivications...nothing...the Mage is back wondering what happened, why he gots all this exp. debt...the Ranger never showed back up and the other Pally booked because things were taking to long.  So, SCREW IT...disband the group, say sorry to everyone about the time and the way things went...feeling I was somehow responsible...and went on my way to work some harvesting skills...nice and safe...no need for a group to harvest.  An hour or so later...the Templar "Hey man, why you guys leave me down here?"  and I says, "What happened to you?"...Templar says, "Uh...I think I fell asleep at the keyboard."   He thinks...that is the irony of the situation...he actually said he "THINKS"...well, imagine my surprise when he stated that.../ignore.</DIV>

<DIV>Gotta love those types.  Make sure you spread the word about these guys (templar and pally) to your friends, guildmates and anyone else who will listen, to prevent others from getting the same thing.  With any luck, they will not get groups, get fed up, and quit the game.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have been sleepy at the keys before, and I tell the group I am falling asleep, get a replacement and head out.  Especially when I was the healer.  There is no excuse to wipe out your party and waste other people's time because you dont have the brains, balls, or self respect to admit when you are tired.  I can only hope he doesnt do the same thing when he drives.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the paladin, sounds like the guy is just a bonehead.  Since you are working on AQs, he has to be mid 20s, not some newb who just got the game.  He needs to find another hobby more to his skill level, like freecell or minesweeper.</DIV>

<DIV>"He needs to find another hobby more to his skill level, like freecell or minesweeper."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hey I liked playing Minesweeper!  It was one of the only games the school library had back then. :smileyvery-happy:</DIV>

<DIV>I have said it several posts, and I'll say it again. Get in a GOOD guild! This will solve about 75% of your grouping woes. Our guild uses TeamSpeak, just a preference but I think it helps alot. If you find a good guild to join (and the biggest is not always the best) you will be much happier :smileyhappy:</DIV>

Indeed, good guilds do help in the grouping process.  I too, am a member of a good guild which uses Teamspeak, an effective tool, btw.  However, there are times when one just needs to vent about a situation that is perplexing...and yes, maybe I am to trusting when it comes to picking up groups...unfortunately, one's schedule does not always coincide with guild functionality and help with quests...thus...the pick-up groups.  And this one just happened to be a bit more confounding than most.  So, figured I can share with the rest of you Gaurdian types and gain some empathy....8 )

<DIV>lol this type of stuff has been happening to me alot lately.  On a more minor note, just the other day I was leveling my sexy ratzerker in FG with an inquis, guard, necro.... well it was just a typical XP group and we were killing very effectively.... all the sudden the necro goes afk bio.  No worries so we just sit there for a few min.  He then says "ok back" so I pull a wretch.  I wasn't paying attention to who all was around me because it had never crossed my mind that a healer would afk without saying so.  Well I notice my hp going down and not up lol.  All the sudden I see the healer ZONE!  I mean during our fight he walked out of zone (not a short walk from where we were camped either).  I was in red and I ran like a little b|tch on crack and just happened to get away with like 30 adds following me.  Funny thing was noone in the party noticed him leaving.  <A href="mailto<img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />@MN..GNOMES" target=_blank>[email protected]</A>!  heh.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With my Inquis I would NEVER afk, leave, zone, run or bio without telling the group heh.  Hell I'll even say if its a #1 or #2 if I think it'll help them better manage the time hehe.</DIV>
