Gnolls that pose a challenge?

I'm at lvl 18, just beginning the Guardian quest. I was told the "Gnolls that pose a challenge" refered to Gnolls that were not grey to me. I fought a mob of 3 Darkpaw Soldiers (green) and got no credit. I next fought a lvl 14 (green/group) Timberclaw Gnoll that was a real "challenge" and got no credit. Not sure where to go from here. I'm running solo due to time constraints and really am not up to huge encounters.
