<DIV>Hi there,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>my question is what do I have to do as a backup tank to pull aggro off the main tank when his life is in the red.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We usually go in a group of 4, main tank guardian lvl26, backup tank guardian lvl25, healer lvl25, warlock lvl26</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In some rare cases, especially when figting named ^^ mobs like Giant Ott in TS it occurs that</DIV> <DIV>the healer gets low on mana and the main tanks life is in the red and we see a chance to take down the mob</DIV> <DIV>and saving the main tanks life, he stops taunting and hold the line spells and I have to take aggro off him.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But in many cases it dont work, the mob sticks on the main tank and I cant control the aggro even when I use </DIV> <DIV>all my hate relates spells and taunting hits. But I have no problem pulling aggro from healer oder DD.</DIV> <DIV>Mine and the main tank's spells are more or less the same level: App III / Adept I</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What do we wrong?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance for any advice!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Halborn</DIV> <DIV>Guardian 25 / Tailor 25</DIV> <DIV>Innovation</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

when the main tanks is dieing and you need to take over he should hit hunker down , this is soposed to give him more defence but also take argo off him self , depending on level i use ever hate tuant i have and hold the line too buffing also work well as most mobs will attack an group buff if you use them ie the peep who casts it anyway

<DIV>He should go straight to a vendor and buy hunker down adept or find someone that can make him a app4 of it. If things get rough he use's hunker down makes you lose a chunk of hate and also even after that it leaks hate.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You should have allay/stand firm those type of buffs on him. Both allow you to block or shield for him on occassion without you taking damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When the brick hits the ogres head he should hunker down, you use tuanting challange-Ruin(or another dd attack)-tuant-AE tuant then your battle cry. By the time you get to the AE you should have solid aggro if not then battle cry WILL get it for you.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Reason i say use a DD attack after tuanting challange is becuase taunting challange allows 2 to 3 more attacks from you to count as a tuant attack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All i hae to say.</DIV>

<DIV>It might also be a good idea to try and consider a switch before things get very dicey. Healer mana low, tank hp in the low yellow or high orange, mt hunkers down and drops htl and second tank puts htl up and starts to work to get agro. I don't know if it is accurate, but I always find mobs harder to get agro on when their current target is close to death, of course the situation highlights the time more than it would otherwise. Doing the switch before it becomes an emergency extends the time available to make the switch and allows for better recovery of power by your healer. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The thing about red hitpoints and no healer power is that there is no room for error, loss of time or bad luck to be successful. Switch when it starts to become a crisis rather than a crisis. </DIV>

Hunker doesn't really do that much imho.. better bet is to throw a few taunts in as the fight wears on so you have less ground to cover to get aggro.. then do a rescue + all taunts including aoe.
do this: ae taunt, direct taunt, and then all of your group buffs. group buffs during combat are huge aggro. i keep every non stacking timer group buff on a hotbar in sequence for this purpose. i also use it to lock aggro when im mt. hope this helps.

<DIV>If your groups organised a great way to get huge amount of hate quickly is fire off some Ho's. If oyu have a scout go for swindlers gift which is fighter ho triggered scout continure then scout and fighter. This gives a group haste buff which generates a great lvl of hate for the person completing i.e. you, and only takes maybe 10-15 seconds to finish.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gavlar</DIV>

There is a line you need to find and follow so you aren't stealing aggro from the MT when you don't want it, but since Guards aren't doing the most DPS in a fight, if you aren't taunting during the fight BEFORE things go sour for the MT... you'll have to up yourself in the hate list past the healer and any other DPS class... as well as catch up for all those taunts the MT has been shouting/building hate with the encounter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The idea is to keep your hate in perspective to playing back-up... being ready to take over at any given moment. Not an easy thing to do if you haven't kept yourself worked up in that hate list.</DIV>

<DIV>Most of it was covered here already, MT use Hunker, you use taunts and some buffs to generate aggro etc..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, and i dont quite remember which level (25 maybe), rescue will help, although with rescue just reading the description is misleading. Sometimes its insta aggro sometimes its not, probably depends on DoTs and Debuffs in effect from others. But even then its supposed to be top of list +1 i believe, so if you use it, then a DoT or Debuff ticks from someone else you lose top of list. So hitting that then firing of some taunts and buffs will grab you aggro, decent refresh on it though so not a constant resource.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also toss an intervene, while Allay and the other parry/block sound great, i havent really been impressed with them, even after you upgrade them. But intervene still works pretty well IMHO.</DIV>
