Early on in my warrior's career, I thought I would become a berserker. However, even with all of the "issues" I keep hearing about, I've changed my mind and I think I want to take the path of a guardian. Here's my dilemma:At level 8 or so, when we got our first trait, I selected strength over stamina. I'm not sure how powerful these traits are, so my question is - have I ruined my ability to be a decent tank (like a warrior in EQ1 putting his point into wisdom, for example)? Or are they not overly powerful in that it would be a marginal difference?

<DIV>I could be wrong but I think I remember the traits selected at 8 adding only 4 extra points. Stamina would have been better probably or agility. I personally chose Agility as, as an Ogre, my Str and Sta were both already quite high and continue to be.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All in all I seriously doubt 4 points, or even 10 points, would ruin your career as a Guardian. I think you get to pick traits again at some point on the road to 50 but even if you don't I'm confident any minuses you feel you have stat wise could be fixed with gear. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Have fun with your guardian :smileyhappy:</DIV>

<DIV>Stop and think about what you are saying... in every single MMO I have played, 99% of the time you encounter two things.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) What you do at level 8 is not very likely to make or break your class.</DIV> <DIV>2) Stats cap sooner or later. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I chose AGI at that level, because STR and STA are already decent as a Barbarian. I can assure you that the decision on stat boosts you make at level 8, will NOT invalidate you as a tank later on. Those decision are supposed to help you out in the level range that you gain them in.</DIV>

<DIV>Also as a fighter class, your power is based on str, the more str you have the more power for specials. If you 'cap' your str that can provide other options to improve your character in other ways. Who knows, maybe by choosing str you added plus 4 to your cap in that. </DIV>

<DIV>Strength works well because at later levels (first is at 22) you are given the option of increasing your Health by a certain %.</DIV>

<DIV>I also chose defense at 18. It raises your defense skill by 5 ranks, which at first seemed nice until they capped the amount defense could be raised above your level. With the new cap's in effect, defense caps with soldier's stance anyway. Pretty much a waste IMHO. Wish I would have known that before I chose +defense. Would have chosen the +HP's instead.</DIV>
