<DIV>It's doable with a group at 21.  I haven't done it yet, but from what little research I have done it goes something like this.  There is a sword, called Sword of Thunder that drops in Stormhold.  Examine it, it gives you a quest to kill 100 skellies plus a couple of semi-rare spawns.  Once you do that, I imagine it turns into Berik, Sword of Thunder.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ibrahim</DIV>

Got it last night. You have to first find the quest item "sword of thunder" (non-equipable) which is a random drop off of mobs on the first floor.Examine the sword, it will ask you to kill 100 random "fallen knights" anything seemed to work for this from squires to zombie knights, grey or not. Cubes and leechs did not work. Then there are three rare spawns that you need to kill, two are on the first floor, third is on the second floor. You'll need a group for the first two at 21-22, and a full group for the third. There is no choice in weapons, it's a one handed longsword. Black with runes/lighting bolts on the blade.<p>Message Edited by Migyb on <span class=date_text>11-29-2004</span> <span class=time_text>11:26 AM</span>

Anyone can walk into stormhold. The quest is a drop off a random mob. Infact I see a lot of adpet 1 drops for freeport only classes.

When I mean first floor, I mean everything above the spiral stair case. So this includes those two doors off the right. It's a drop, in a chest so grey mobs aren't going to do you any good. I suppose it could drop anyplace in stormhold, but it's much safer on the first floor. Try hunting zombie knights, defiled knights, torrents, etc. etc.

soton
12-02-2004, 08:54 PM
yes it's from a chest, so yes you have to kill at least green mobs. The ones i got it from was a defiled torrent down by BP room.

<DIV>From what ive seem most people who use 1h weps in Freeport tend to use Skullcrusher hammer quest out of Fallen Gate. Basically the same... its a random drop off mobs in Fallen Gate, you use it to activate a quest that eventually gives yout he hammer. I think it starts out as 'broken pick' of some sort and you find the peices to make it usable again. Pretty descent hammer its what I use.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is also a quest given from an ogre standing in front of the temple of war in freeport. this quest requires you to go to the BOTTOM (And I mean the very bottom last room... ) of Fallen Gate. Reward for that is a choice of 1h hammer or 2h hammer and they are level 32. IMO those ones were kinda mediocre for their level though =( The skullcrusher seemed to be more 'bang' for its level.</DIV>

I have all my spell effects and what not turned off, so I'll check on the proc. I do notice that everyonce in awhile I'll hit for like 80 some damage, but not sure if that is the proc or maybe a crit. Are there even crits? Hrrrmmmm....I'll turn on my spell effects tonight and see if the proc does anything. I know it's called thunder strike....

It maxes out at 28. But compared to storebought you probably wont have to upgrade before your near 35 if you dont get better.I can confirm that the sword drops from chests and that it does drop below the stairway. I have seen it as chest loot from a defiled crusader (2 arrow group con) and a defiled torrent (2 arrow group con).Just finished the crypt of betrayal weapon quest Sharpscar and its actually a poorer weapon <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.Hope the thundering steppes weapon musters up.Granbar 26 Guardian / 25 alchemistRunnyeye

<DIV>I too wield Berik, Sword of Thunder. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The proc fires off quite a bit, it's a double or triple lighting blast from the sky that does around 70-85 damage at times. Sometimes the proc goes nuts and fires off several times in a row and it can fire at every monster in the encounter, not just the one that you are fighting (doesnt happen as often though). The proc can also fire off when you're using a bow to pull, it seems just having the thing equipped is good enough. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was very lcuky to have looted the lore item in a group while in Stormhold one night. I had seen it on a guy named Clink (permafrost server) and just had to have it. You have to examine the sword to begin the quest and Berik wants you to kill 100 fallen knights of SH (any undead in SH did the trick). Then you have to kill the Battlelord that had him commisioned, the blacksmith that made him and the Battlepriest that blessed him before you can use the sword. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was level 22 when i was first able to wield Berik but i was 21 when i looted him. Im 26 now (about to hit 27) and the sword is just yellow to me I think.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Berik even calls you nimrod once or twice, be sure to read all of his dialogue, pretty funny.</DIV>

<DIV>Usually item triggered quests require you to examine them a couple times throughout the quest in order to advance it, and you most certainly must have the item in order to finish it. All item quests require you to at least examine it once to initiate the quest, and once to finish the quest. I can say with 99.9% certainty that he will not be able to finish the quest with out getting the sword back.</DIV>

<DIV>I've had this sword since my early twenties (level 21 or so), but finding the 2 of the 3 named spawns is darn near impossible. I've been camping Lord Berlon (in the quartermaster's room) off an on for weeks now. They say he has a decent chance of spawning if you kill his placeholder -- I've yet to see him, even after server ups. And then, once I take him out, all I will have left is the Battlepriest (Alexandria). Even though the sword is nice, there is a good chance you could spend 12+ hours camping to get the two rare named spawns. I've got 10+ right now and have yet to see either up <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> /sigh</DIV>

Priest is under a 2 hour spawn. You must be camping the wrong spot, or the zone was broke. The eariler in the day the better, less odds of zone being broke.

Lol I wish. I camped the BP room for 6+ hours one Monday killing the other BP and torrent before Alexandria spawned. Luckily being a Monday late night hardly anyone was in SH so we where able to pull the maids and Archer to fill our bags. The blacksmith seems to almost always be up and Lord Berlon was easy enough to spawn as the PH was gray, which does suck on loot but its easier in that it doesn’t require you to try and maintain a group. This sword has lasted me well into the early sages of 30 and at 33 I am finaly finishing up my Ghoul bane quest for my next sword. (Crashed the whole zone when we where wiped out fighting the Creator, had him but lost due to two Clay Guardians who came to help at the end)

<DIV>OK!  Well, after a frustrating weekend of trying to find actual information about this drop, heres what we discovered.  We, a group of 3 lvl 19's, spent 9+ hours in Stormhold killing green ^^ and blue ^^.  We fought around the chessboard.  Eventually killing a rotting zombie for the drop.  After speaking with some other players in this zone, we were informed that any mob around that chess board, including, the life leeches, defiled squires, rot zombies, defiled scoundrals, defiled priests, defiled keepers and any other mob around that area drops the sword of thunder in an approximate ratio of 1/150 (however we didnt experience this drop rate).  I was assured that this person had aquired numerous swords of thunder in this ratio.  I do want to encourage people to search for this sword while they are small enough.  The mobs in this area turn grey at lvl 20 so start looking before too long.  We got about 2 levels down here searching for the sword!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But anyways, to answer everyones questions, pretty much every mob drops this sword on the first floor, but its easiest to get the drop by the chessboard.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good luck! <DIV>I think the only reason it's easier near the chessboard is because it has probably the largest concentration of mobs in one area, at least for the top two floors.  You can do a lot of killing in that room. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ironically, while we were camping Alexandria for my sword, another quest item dropped off the Torrent that is her PH. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  My Fury friend, who had basically done the entire quest with me, got it and was offered 1pp for it a few minutes later.  The newfound awareness of this quest/weapon has really driven up the demand.  I'm glad I found mine for 5gp.</DIV>

I helped a Pallie friend this weekend get her Berik... we camped Alexandria for 3 hours on saturday... Killed the male battlepriest about 10x, everyone and their alts got the battlepriest necklace. No further Berik quest drop (we killed a LOT of torrents, cavaliers, crusaders, handmaidens, etc) but we did finish her quest.VERY nice weapon for a 1h. Oh yeah... we group wiped once when we were in the Atrium and the Scion spawned.Hey, it's not called DebtHold for nothing...<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I got my quest (starter) back early on in my eq life (level 20 - late November). I didn't even know what the sword was for, nor whether or not it was worthwhile to complete. The sword IS a good/great sword for the mid-twenties to early 30's, but that is not why people are offering 1+ pp for the starter. I believe there is a level 40+ quest that requires the "sword of thunder" as a component to create a much better item for that level. Those individuals are the ones that are paying PP for the sword.</DIV>
