I SWG each class had a spokesman. The spokesman was a link between the devs and the community, us. Instead of Devs having to read through 2000 gazillion posts with flaming, whining, rants etc, the spokesman nicely gathered what seemed to be the general opinion of the members of the class. He or she gathered all this information, posted exactly what he or she was going to send to the Devs, and of course posted the reply, progress etc.I am surprised they havent initiated this in EQ2, seemed to work wonders. (or maybe it just slipped my mind.. there is no such thing atm is there ? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )Nontheless, we could try to work together now. You think this would work? I am 100% sure a person who know how to write and talk english in a polite, well-formated way, who is good at listing things so its easy to understand etc - would be much appriciated by the devs, and easier for them to see what is it ACTUALLY that we want. It would be a win-win.Anyone voulunteer for initiating such a task? Or does the idea simply suck...

<DIV>No I don't think anything from SWG would be a good idea. Not even something from the forums. </DIV>

<DIV>From what I can remember of the SWG forums the spokesman always was getting flamed, harrassed and degraded. They were not seen as repected members overall and where often accused of pushing their own class agenda. People were constantly posting about how the spokesperson should get fired ..etc.Add all that and compile it with that fact that you will spend hour upon hour away from the game trying to get the community to come to some sort of consensus and you end up with a headache only few people could put up with.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I liked the idea on paper but what is basically did was divide the community because people couldn't agree and then it came down to which side could argue loudest. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But hey if they want to implement that here then I hope whomever takes the job understands the old saying:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>"You can please some people some of the time, but you can't please all people all of the time."</DIV>

This exists for EQ also. Its not a SWG thing per-se its a SoE thing. Im sure , unless they do away with the whole program it will come for EQ2 as well.Although mostly i think its just a PR scheme to make us think they give a **ZOMG**. They can read the boards just like everyone else they dont need a special "spoon fed" version of what people want. If they really cared theyed put a specific dev in charge of each class and have that dev complie the issues.

I am an ex-SWG player and I remember the guy in question. Gale if I remember right, and tbh he did deserve the flames he got sometimes. He would withold information and be very slow to respond to players, wouldn't ask the questions players wanted etc etc and caused more grief than he should have. He did do some good of course, but on the whole I think everyone thought hima bit useless. Should such a program be initiated for EQ2, I would volunteer to do it, and I doubt I would be the only one, plenty of players I am sure would like the chance to ensure that EQ2 players questions are answered and fears allayed.

<DIV>The correspondent setup in SWG kind of worked, but unfortunately it was very prone to the correspondents just trying to make themselves more powerful rather than balancing out the profession. On top of that, the developers werent to good at spotting this hence the profession balance went all out of whack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It would make a lot more sense if SOE assigned a developer to each of the archetypes instead and they pick up then investigate any issues raised. This would also mean we are not relying on another player to relay information to us from the developers and having to deal with NDAs, misunderstandings, etc.</DIV>
