<DIV>First off, i don't consider myself some sort of fantastic player, but i do get by. However this quest has killed me twice, and i seem to be using every tactic that I can. My Warrior is based out of Qeynos.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All of my weapon skills are upgraded to apprentice 3. I use battle tactics, rallying cry, and call to arms before each fight.</DIV> <DIV>My gear is all yellow, except for a few pieces of quest jewellery which are blue/green.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have tried using a shield, and have tried it doing it with a 2 handed weapon. My problem is the one little group of green gnolls and the leader. I have tried killing the leader first, and tried killing his mates first. But i still end up dieing. I have come close, but still end up on the short end.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My one problem i think stems from when i was levelling up, and given the chance to pick <EM>orc master </EM>or <EM>gnoll master</EM>, i picked orc. I didn't realize at the time that there were no orcs on this side of the continent <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, in short, i am looking for any pointers from someone else who has had a rough time with this quest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Yup, had a tough time too, with the diviner and young trainees groups. You only have to actually kill the leaders, *not* everyone.</DIV>

<DIV>Ok thanks, yeah i finally got past the 5 greens. But so far i have only seen 2 actual "leaders". Is there one that I am missing somewhere?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is the defiler considered a leader?</DIV>

<DIV>The leaders are a Dark-Elf and a Gnoll that are in the farthest back canyon you can go. The only problem I ran into was the 3 diviners. One trick is if you run them all the way back to the entrance where you start they will de-agro and you can run by them. Everything else was easy.</DIV>

<DIV>Thanks everyone. I just left the Diviners alone. Was able to get through it finally <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

You don't need to kill the diviners...
Yeah those three casters were the hardest fight for me. I got them finally, had just a little bit of health left and they were out of power. I think the hint for this whole quest is when they tell you to use tactics instead of brute force. Use of the skills that have Tactics listed as the skill really helps in there.

<DIV>Yeah its a little tough. The only problem I really had was with the Diviners.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I managed to kill all the gnolls on the map along with the Sabertooth.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From my experience, here's what I suggest:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. Use your heroics at every opportunity!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. Do you have the concussion skill? I was lucky enough to find an Adept scroll 1 for it. It really helps against the Deiviners because every hit you land lowers there power level, meaning they cant cast spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3. Did you notice that you get Heroes armour when you first enter the level? Get rid of the big groups first.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>4. Rest after every fight, and take quality food and drink so you recharge faster.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On a side note I managed to finish this quest first time, however it got real close against the deviners. I was down to the last one, he had full health I only had a quarter left, neither of us had any power left, but fourtunately I won the slugging match.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Best of Luck to you!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>The guy tells you to use tactics, not brute force to complete this quest.. and I most certainly learned a new tactic doing this quest today.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I realized I had no chance to kill the 3 healer gnolls, I yelled for help and ran for the entry way hoping they wouldn't follow me that far. I was wrong. What did happen, was that my food/drink non-fighting regen kicked in and I was back to about 3/4s health. Aha! I don't care about the xps/drops from these guys. I just wanted them dead! </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lessoned learned. When the xps/drops don't matter and your just trying to get clear mobs or get to a certain place.. fight with the encounter lock broken - because the regen helps. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Anaximandar of Blackburrow, 20 Guardian</DIV>

<DIV>I killed <U>only</U> the leaders. Walked on the walls, waited for groups to path out of the way, pulled leaders out with bow. That made it trivial. (Hmm, I <EM>might</EM> have killed the first group actually.)</DIV>
<DIV>Just did this last night (at 1<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Died once from the group of gnolls, but almost got them :p</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You do not need to kill many mobs at all really, you can sneak your way around and only kill the non bosses that are directly in your path. Was able to single pull the one named from the stones without getting agro from healers just fine.</DIV>

<DIV>So in order to complete this quest you just have to kill the Dark Elf and the accomanying gnoll plus any mobs that get in your way ?</DIV>
<DIV>All i did and passed that quest was to kill a single mod in the circle of stones.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I only killed the 2 groups at the entrance and then found a spot arround the circle of stone pulled the first solo mob i found and did it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope it helps</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I did this last night on the first try with the help of this post. I killed the first two groups in the pathway, then snuck past that big group, killed the solos and the two at the back of the canyon. Then I pulled the named mob out of the circle of stones and voila, complete. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for the informative posts in this thread.</DIV>

I went in and killed them all. As they mentioned in the post above Use your HO those take a good chunk of HP frm the mob. When you got a group of mobs on you i used AE hits as well that way when it came time to fight them there HP was lower. Even if they were healers the more damage you do to them the more power they use to heal themselves. So by the time you get to them its an easy kill. Use shield against casters and healers it stops their cast. Good luck<p>Message Edited by Falcorr on <span class=date_text>11-24-2004</span> <span class=time_text>08:13 AM</span>
