When i was playing EQ1 i half wanted to be a healer, and half wanted to be the tank. Thus i played a paladin, warrior and cleric at various times. ( Current main is a 65 SK w/155aa)But, i think im done with the "hybrid" classes. I want to either a pure tank or pure healer. Its not as simple as "play what you like" as im not really sure which of the two i would prefer. Some considerations:1. Templar (Cleric) or Guardian (Fighter)Thoes are really my only two choices. I want to be either a "all out healer" or "all out tank". Why would you (the reader) pick one over the other, Specificly?2. I want to be "in demand" for Groups / Raids.Templar is probably going to win this battle. The clerics were always the bottleneck. Tanks were a dime a dozen.3. I think i slightly prefer the tank role, but it is offset by the "eh.. another tank?" feeling i get when i see all the figther types running about. Any suggestions on what i should be thinking about for the endgame and why i would choose one or the other specificly. Again, im aware of the "pick what you like" but in this case im not sure what to pick, as i dont have the time available to play both classes out to the endgame. I need to make the decision early on.

<DIV>Guardians (well Warriors at least) are much more interesting than their EQ1 counterparts. I played a warrior in EQ1 until kunark, got sick of same old same old hitting A all the time, so I switched to an enchanter. I played warrior in beta, got my interest, so I started one again on live, a few bubbles from hitting guardian now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Of course, clerics will always be one of the most in demand classes, at least at lower levels the other healer classes can do pretty well. Also, I do see quite a few groups requesting tanks, or a combination of healer/tanks. I even get tells for groups, rarely happened in EQ1. Anyways, I think you will likely enjoy both, but clerics will always be more desirable to groups since more nescessary (and don't give me any of that all classes in the archetype are equally good junk).</DIV>
There is no holy trinity anymore.First off enchanters are no longer needed in groups. They are great to have but not needed. Also there are now 6 types of clerics now, and they all can serve the role of the primary healer. From what we saw in beta the warrior classes could all tank fairly equally. Some may of needed a little more healing here and there, but they all did a good job on the day to day basis. This seemed to hold true even past 20th. So in the end, think of that fantasy character you've always wanted to play, and play it....you'll find a group with no problems.
