<DIV>I never got high enough in beta to make Guardian so I'm wondering what is the difference between these two types of armors?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kudara</DIV> <DIV>18 Warrior</DIV>

<DIV>Neither did I, but I'm guessing lots more AC and 'tanking' stat bonuses.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Plus, it just looks badass. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>I have to admit I have no idea what it looks like either, would you happen to know of a picture that shows it?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kudara</DIV> <DIV>18 Warrior</DIV> <DIV>Runnyeye</DIV>

Plate armor looks like the stuff the neighborhood guards wear in qeynos. Vanguard looks like the stuff under the warrior archtype on the EQ2 website. It has all the complex fluting and metalwork on it, compared to plate which is much simpler. As to the difference at 20th the two sets (iron/steel I think) you could buy cheap from the merchants were the same, except that plate was slightly heavier, but that's not a major concern for fighters really. Plate IS cheaper though so if your strapped for cash you may want to go that route. I think it cost me about 5-6 gold to buy my full suit of Vanguard from the merchant in beta, would of been around 4 for plate. There are lvl 20 armor quests....but I am not sure how difficult they were since I never completed them.

<DIV>I checked into this last night. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Plate is slightly more expensive than Vanguard. Maybe they changed this from beta. There is no AC difference between the two at lvl 20. I am a plate man myself. I dont like the fancy pants Vanguard armor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Plus, if you buy the plate armor peices it will match the quest armor that you will be getting over the first few levels of 20. The vanguard peices dont match that well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

for some reason that "fancy" armor looks more "intelligent" to me. Rather than just you know "the [Removed for Content] that stands there and says uh.. duh.. ok me takin the bashes".. hehe

<DIV>Ok to clear stuff up </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Vanuaurd is significantly cheaper than it was in Beta.</DIV> <DIV>- Look for it in your racial home zone for what should be the best prices.</DIV> <DIV>- Vanguard and Plate appear to have the same AC.</DIV> <DIV>- Vanguard Plate from a smith of normal quaility is better than store bought (and has stats)</DIV> <DIV>- Vanguard looks a heck of a lot nicer.  Especially the Chest/Arm combo.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When you subtract off the pieces you can do easily (1st 3 armor quests) you end up with a cost of approx 2.5 gold which covers</DIV> <DIV>- Arms</DIV> <DIV>- Legs</DIV> <DIV>- Boots</DIV> <DIV>- Chest</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope this helps.</DIV>

Are you in freeport or Qeynos when you check those prices? The cheapest prices I found were NOT in my racial home town, but then again it may because I'm human from Qeynos...As to Vanguard being cheaper I'm not sure why that is...if it weighs less....Also I noticed last night that Bersekers can wear Vanguard. So maybe plate is the final heavy armor? I'm confused now.

<DIV>Man hate to see where you guys buy armor!!  I got my full set, minus pants, for under 2 gold when I hit 20 just because I wanted some armor <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> (Had a great pair of Pants already).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And I did find Vanguard to be about 2-4 silver cheaper per piece then Heavy Plate.  So its a win win situation on that.</DIV>

<DIV>Where did you buy your armor for under 2 gold?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

They recently lowered the prices for armor in the game, it was about 40% more in beta. Cheapeast prices for vanguard is in qeynos harbor near the bank. For freeport I'm not sure....

I was comparing prices / benefits last night and the Steel Vanguard had the exact same AC as Carbinite Plate. The Vanguard was also cheaper. The Carbinite Plate "conned" higher and maxed out AC at a higher level, so that leads me to believe that they're 2 different tiers of material. Didnt bother to look for Carbinite Vanguard, since I didnt have much money and didnt know for certain if it existed anyways... If it does exist, Id expect it to have more AC then the plate, thus meaning that Vanguard AC > Plate AC.

Vanguard is the King, God, Supreme armor in the game. Find a vendor with Carbinite Plate and look at the stats. Now find the vendor with Carbinite Vanguard. You'll see that the AC is higher. You cant compare steel vanguard to carbinite plate, they're on completely different tiers of material.

ATM I have some vanguard waiting for me when I ding 20 (thanks to guildmates!), but I will also start hunting down armorquests, if not maybe ill just go for raw cash and try to get some carbinite vanguard, I can suspect pretty high prices now and for a long time forward though.,,.

<DIV>The Carbinite Plate "conned" higher and maxed out AC at a higher level</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>this is a completely b-s statement. Just bought my armor myself. both carbonite plate and steel vanguard have exact same max lvl, exact same skills numbers and exact same AC. They are identical except that vanguard is lighter and cheaper. why anybody would buy carbonite is beyond me.</DIV>
