View Full Version : Wuoshi Taken Down by Second Dawn

Members of the Najena guild, Second Dawn, accomplished a world wide first in the defeat of Wuoshi on January 8th. They were kind enough to share some images and a video from the event, and I was able to coerce a few answers out of guild leader Exill about the effort that went into this epic takedown. Check out all the information on the EQII Players website!Congratulations to Second Dawn! Nice job!

First, a sincere congrats.

Secondly, how about we fix EH so it doesn't take camping 3 or 4 days to get to the third floor for crappy loot up until Wuoshi? Yeah, I said it. This is crap.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board?board.id=zones

Kilaelya, one thing you have to remember is the zone will keep getting easier as you beat it. The better gear and more knowledge of the zone will increase the speed at which guilds can get through the zone. When more people get set bonuses the zone will die much faster, and once a guild has beaten all the bosses and can kill them with very few pulls that will also speed the time it takes to get to the third floor.

Your comment about fixing EH taking 3 or 4 days to get to the third floor is not correct. I know many guilds who can get to the Gardener within their first night of being in the zone... so all that would need to be improved on those guilds parts would be killing the gardener. It would be possible to get to the third floor within a few hours.

Wow, Xelus, thats really sad that you would say that. The reason why we went to try the Avatar is because we were locked out of *Every* other zone and had nothing else to do. No one had any idea about the Avatar whatsoever. A bunch of people were grumpy for attacking their own god!

First off Congrats to Second Dawn you guys are doing awesome this expansion and getting some well deserved WW 1sts. I personally just find it odd and feel interviews for a WW 1st are a little over the top but thats just me. To my knowledge only 2 guilds ever have been interviewed and it just seems wierd they pick this WW 1st out of anything when there have been more signifigant WW 1sts that didn't get an interview. (I use more signifigant imo of course, just to me the mob cant be that hard if its cleared on a guilds 1st attempt at him)But anyway just a mindless rant from a bored raider in EH.

Message Edited by Computer MAn on 01-13-2007 04:19 PM

A quick note before I get back to my weekend:I look forward to being able to interview more guilds about their acheivements in the game as the future unfolds. To me, this is something that's important, bringing the acheivements of players to the EQII Players page. It's a way to celebrate interesting facets of our community, great accomplishments, and plain and simple fun as well.

Grats SD I knew y'all would do it! For those naysaysers complaining about beta - apparently you've not done much in beta - because while beta testers get a sneak peek, they don't get every strat, every mob ability, ever single piece of knowledge about the mob. And even those that work closely with the devs are not told everything - and yes, from what I've heard, the mobs are switched up some and final abilities put in after testing and before live (hence some mobs being borked upon going live - otherwise, every mob would be working perfectly would it not?) - so while SD may have had a clue about certain aspects, it's certainly nothing that any other determined raid guild would not have already found out by this point in the expansion simply by trial and error. Congrats SD ! and I look forward to seeing what's next ...

I also feel that since EQ2Players.com is such a big part of this game, and the rankings associated with it, I think they should track worldwide first kills and server first kills of true raid mobs. I also believe SOE should give a worldwide announcement across all servers the minute the mob is killed for the first time, and stating the guild name who took it down.

Lets face it, MMO's are like a sport for alot of us. Many people play the game to become the best and would be nice to recognize some of those achievements. Even EQ1 has a player run "Boss Mob Kills" site that tracks the top 266+ guilds in EQ1 across all expansions and all bosses for first kills and kill 2-266+ kill list. Its broken down by the day it was killed, how many days it took them to kill it from the last guild to kill it, and how many days it took them to kill it from the first day it was ever killed. Its pretty cool to see that only 35 guilds worldwide out of 266 have killed Mayong in DSP, or that Tunnat, two years later is still not killed by more then 61% of the raid guilds in Everquest 1, a indicator of how truely hard that mob really is to some guilds even today.

Would be great to have that in EQ2. http://lavanet.no/progress/

Message Edited by Aethn on 01-15-2007 07:19 PM
