<DIV>Sign up for a free account!</DIV> <DIV>The functionality is in beta, the administrative tools and websites still need more work.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV><A href="http://www.eq2-compendium.com/wid/EQ2FASetup.msi" target=_blank><FONT color=#c8c1b5>http://www.eq2-compendium.com/wid/EQ2FASetup.msi</FONT></A></DIV> <DIV> </DIV></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EQ2-Compendium is now in open BETA!<BR> </DIV> <DIV>1. What is it?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EQ2-Compendium is a compilation of data contained in all users log files. Namely Loot/Kill/Vendor/Broker/Harvest Data.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. Why is that useful?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All Mobs have a specific loot table assigned to it that upon that monsters death, a random roll is performed and depending on the result an item from that table is dropped for the player to pick up. We record that information and compile it over all servers to reassemble the monsters loot table.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3. Again why is reassembling the mobs loot table important?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Because instead of killing random mobs in hopes of finding an item that is useful for your character, you can target the SPECIFIC mob that has a chance to drop the items you want!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>4. What kind of items does this apply to?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All kinds! Vendor trash, Legendary, Fabled, Mythical, Spells (including Master Spell Drops!). Anything that the mob has a chance to drop will eventually be a part of our database!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>5. I am still not seeing how this would be useful, could you please elaborate?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It takes the guesswork out of hunting for new equipment. Sure you can spend a fortune of plat to buy that superuber ring off the broker, or using EQ2-Compendium you can see what mob or mobs drop that ring, and go killem yourself! Outfitting a character used to take weeks, months or a fortune of platinum but with EQ2-Compendium it will help you trim that time/cost significantly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>6. Is this even legal?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yes! We collect absolutely nothing that is either personally identifiable or breaks the EULA (End User License Agreement) in any way shape or form. In fact if you had the time to go through your own log files, and the logs of countless other users you could find the information you need. We just offer an automated way compile and access this data.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>7. How often is the information updated, Every night? Every week?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Better! Within 30 seconds of an EQ2-Compendium user killing any mob on any server the information is recorded into the database, becoming instantly available to ALL users worldwide! If that mob drops something off its corpse or in a chest, that information is available as well!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>8. How Exact is the data?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sadly our data can never be 100% accurate, the way the information is logged makes it nearly impossible to maintain 100% accuracy so you will see some data anomalies. But we at EQ2-Compendium search out those anomalies and fix them to keep our data is as accurate as possible.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>9. Okay so I've signed up, now what?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You download and install the software, Login using the user name and password you created. After which it will automagically seek out your log files for Everquest 2 and begin parsing them. A second window will pop and allow you to search by mob or item, and you are on your way!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>10. Do I need to check for updates?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>No! Every time you start the application it will call home and check for updates and prompt you to install them, you will always be on the latest and greatest version of the software.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>11. I've used other software that needs me to download the update database for new data, will I have to do that with EQ2-Compendium?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Not even once! Every search you perform hits our production data so if user JoeSchmo on Nagafen finally downed the superhardraidmob 60 seconds ago, you will be able to see what he dropped!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>12. That sounds pretty neat, do you have anything planned for the future?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Absolutely, through our automatic updates we will push out updates on a regular basis, if there's something you would like to see drop it in the comment box and we will defiantly look into it! After all this is software for YOU! Currently we have slated more improvements in statistical calculations and a more exact MobZone Discovery technique.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>13. There's an expansion coming out soon / recently released will you have Item/Mob data from that?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yes! Within a minute of an EQ2-Compendium user killing/harvesting/picking up anything, we will have the info!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>14. How many mobs/items/kills are in your database?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The real time stats are posted on the bottom of the page at <A href="http://www.eq2-compendium.com/" target=_blank>www.eq2-compendium.com</A>, go ahead and take a peek!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><A href="http://www.eq2-compendium.com/" target=_blank>www.eq2-compendium.com</A> : The Smart way to play!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV><A href="http://www.eq2-compendium.com/wid/EQ2FASetup.msi" target=_blank><FONT color=#c8c1b5>http://www.eq2-compendium.com/wid/EQ2FASetup.msi</FONT></A></DIV> <DIV><BR> </DIV></DIV><p>Message Edited by RoMaJoHo on <span class=date_text>11-17-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:53 AM</span>

<div></div>This sounds like a cool idea. Not sure if I am keen on paying $2.50 a month for it though. Couldnt you just allow everyone who lets you parse their logs see the data for free? It sounds like there is a direct inverse relationship between the requirement of the number of paying users and the amount of useful information you will recieve from their logs. Why not drop one variable to push up the other?Regardless, Good luck with it.edit spelling<div></div><p>Message Edited by Cyanbane on <span class=date_text>11-15-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:12 PM</span>

<DIV>Hehe, honestly after how many tiers, encryption, scrubbing and misc transformation the data goes thru...i was shocked it worked at all...when i came up with this 2 weeks ago i thought there was no way it'd work. I can't describe how excited when i picked up my first tester, had them kill something and see it reflected in the DB within 20 seconds. I hope you enjoy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Bear in mind the way Zones are logged is very hit or miss...so the zone info on mobs is quite often off...i'm thinking thru a fix for that now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any suggestions or what you'd like to see...or bug reports...would help immensely.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

is there a way to manually set the eq2 directory? I dont see where i can browse through my network to my gaming rig.I run all my parsers and voice programs on another PC to reduce the lag on my processor <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> and would like to do the same with this.<div></div>

11-16-2006, 08:58 PM
<DIV>After it tried to automagically discover the eq2 directory, and it will fail if your setting it up on a second computer (if you don't have eq installed there), Which I did for the normal people that have no idea where/what they need to do to set up, it will prompt you for your eq2 location. Select a file in that directory and it should (i hope) run without a hitch, admittadly this is a use case i have not considered.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The architecture of the application should allow it however.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>let me know, i have a long night of work on this ahead of me....all you darn firefox users <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>Good point, it defaults to searching the puter for your eq2.exe...i should offer the ability for either automatic or manual upfront.</P> <P> </P> <P>Good call.</P>

Firefox download is up as a full MSI download, i will think through a better way to version and auto update it.i tested this with the only machine i could, so i hope it works for general consumption.all the users having trouble downloading and installing it should now be able to. the installer is very rough (they sure didn't make it easy). a better version will be out tommorrow.Keep bumping this thread and tell all your friends!<div></div>
