After a lot of time spent in The Fallen Dynasty, a lot of discussion with players who have previewed it from a large range of content, a good deal of research, and some discussions with the people 'behind the scenes' at SOE, I'm ready to put forward my review of this new Adventure Pack. It's a rather long, and hopefully thorough review of this AP which launches today. I tackle areas such as a general overview of the content, the lore of the AP, the raid content, tradeskill additions, and a final evaluation. Take a look.

Thanks for that. What I tried to do, what I HOPEFULLY did, was give a fair perspective of the AP. It has specific things it's designed to accomplish, and it does that. Very well.

Unfortunatly it seems that it doesn't do much else than that.

Thanks for the honest review! I'm saddened that my 70 provisioner really will get no benefit from the tradeskill stuff as she is only a 29 mystic. I really had hoped I wouldn't have to level another toon to do them...ah well...eventually someday I'll get tired of my fury and Necro and level my poor mystic hehe but, not doing it for an AP.... Again, nice review..thank you much

I have to disagree on two things, but other than review is very good and informative.

1. There are many players who doesn't have the expansions yet, and will buy it in the future when they reached the appropriate levels. There are many new players one of them being myself who have come to EQ2 and still low level and had no reason to purchase the expansion packs yet. My main character is still level 38 and most people I group with are new players and not alts of old players.

2. I don't like the instanced zones in Splitpaw which scale with your level. It is ok to have one expansion pack which does level scaling instanced dungeons. But, it will be really boring if all expansion packs introduced that. When I go into an area and fought my way, then after a couple of levels when i goto the same area, I want to feel like that I am stronger than before. The problem with scaling levels is you don't get that accomplished feel (which is vitally important in an MMORPG)

I'd like to take a look at this review but the site has been down the last few days. Any hope of it coming back in the next day or two?-mh

Hey higby,

We suffered a bit of a crash, and rollback. It's functional now, but it's requiring me to go back and manaully resave a lot of things to sort of force them up to date. Nothing is lost but it's taking me a lot of time to get everything back to speed. It should be fixed soon, but send me a pm with your email address if you want, I'll send it to you.

*UPDATE* I have gotten this page back online. As a result of the crash I need to manually reload each page that was entered after the rollback date, which is a significant amount of material and I need to do it page by page (fortunatly everything is THERE and I simply need to open, and resave, each individual article, but it is still time consuming). The link in the original post should be functional now.

Message Edited by Arthais_CR on 06-21-2006 09:59 AM

...in addition, I was given the task of performing a one week follow-up review from a different perspective to that of Arthais. You'll find my own write-up over at CR Gaming, as well as Arthias' original.

Very good review Arthais. I have not been able to play EQ2 since May (because of work) and so these reviews and forums keep me informed of the new changes. Until recently i have not followed the lore aspect of the game, but now that im reading the forums more i have been interested and regret not following it closely (i played EQ1 also but never completed the Time access quests). Is there a link or can anyone point me in the direction to where i might catch up on the Lore of the game? Thanks in advance!

Rodric Blades

64 Swashbuckler

Antonia Bayle Server
